Oguta Magistrate Court remands two Egbuoma persons others on the run over Allegations of kidnapping, Torture Using Unknown Gunmen

A recent case of land racketeering has unfolded in Oguta, Imo State, Nigeria, involving allegations of kidnapping and intimidation. Two individuals from Egbuoma Community, accused of conspiring to seize land from its rightful owners, have been remanded by the Oguta Magistrate Court ¹.

The accused, including Julius Okonkwo Nkameme, Chukwudi Okafor Agbomma, Mathew Okoye, Amuche Ngaoka, Anthony Ngaoka, Ikechukwu Ngaoka, Obioha Ndebilie, Good luck Okafor Agbomma, and Ifeanyi Okafor, allegedly hired unknown gunmen to kidnap and coerce three members of Umuagbubuomumu Okorie into signing away their rights to the land ¹.

The victims, who were reportedly subjected to torture and property destruction, claimed they were forced to sign an agreement relinquishing their claim to the land. The case took a turn when the survivors reported the incident to the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, identifying the accused individuals ¹.

One of the victims, Mr. Okechukwu Agbubuomumu Okorie, recounted his harrowing experience, stating that he was released only after signing away his rights to the land. He emphasized that the dispute arose after the demise of their sister, whose children began contesting the land despite their mother’s judicious marriage and lack of rights to her maiden father’s land ¹.

The Oguta Magistrate Court, recognizing the case’s complexity, declared that it lacked jurisdiction and adjourned the matter until October 24, 2024, to facilitate the transfer of files to the State High Court for further proceedings

In a related development, Mr Okechukwu Agbubuomumu Okorie recounted how he recently lost his house hold property’s to the above mentioned persons who descended heavily on their family buildings vandalized and stolen over 24 Broilers fowls and accused Nze Stanley Ejesieme and Frank Okoye American based Egbuoma Community members as the major sponsors of the hoodlums.
