Imo Commissioner for Sports/Youth Development Solicits for Media Partnership To move the Ministry forward

The Imo State commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha has called and Solicited for the partnership of all the media practitioners to enable him succeed in moving the ministry forward.
Hon. Onyeocha made the plea on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 at the Imo State Secretariat complex Owerri.

In a media interaction Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Onyeocha expressed confidence in the media positive contributions in the growth of the ministry and pointed out that the engagement with some practicing media experts in collaboration with Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Journalists will pave a Lean way for the success of the Sector.

According to him ” We are here for a familiarization and not the usual Press briefing but when it’s time we are going to brief the press but today I am eager and ready to hear from you Journalists, take contributions, suggestions and ideas on how best to move the State ministry of Sports and Youth Development forward,”.

Fielding questions from the Newsmen, Hon. Onyeocha said that he is ready and prepared to take bold step to correct the past lacunas in the ministry and pointed out that he is going to make sure that the Youth Development aspect is realized.

On the issue of working to Stop Youth Restiveness and leadership tussles in some rural communities the Commissioner said that his doors are open to take complaints and petition to restore peace in tranquility in the State.

On the Issue of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Hon. Obinna Onyeocha said that he inherited the challenges as the Imo State Chapter of the group are currently in court over leadership misunderstandings and promised to bring the warring faction together to restore peace.

Further he expressed determination to work with the Journalists in the State and called on Media practitioners to reciprocate the gesture by promoting and enhancing the productivity of the ministry of Sports and Youth Development in Imo State.

He used the medium to expand that the government is stocked with abundant Youth Programme aimed at the creation of wealth and Skills Acquisition and Empowerment as the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma’s 3 R mantra has good programs for the youth and encouraged the youth to grab the opportunity as it unfold.

He used the medium to present Imo State indigenous athletics that won Laurels in Sports Activities in the national and international sphere including gold medals, Silver and Bronze, including Golden Medalists Prince Kennedy Nwamkpa (Mr Universe) Miss Chituru Nwaozuzu who won gold in the para Table Tennis Games and many other athletes.

The highlights of the event was official presentation of customized “Heartland Football Club” Jersey to the journalists including the SWAN members,
