IMSUBEB Flags Off Distribution of Digital Learning Materials Across Imo State

The Executive Chairman of the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), Hon. Chidiebere Egboh, has officially flagged off the distribution of teaching and learning materials, alongside digital equipment, to public schools across the state in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
Speaking during the ceremony, the Imo State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Bernard Ikeagwuoha, commended the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, and the IMSUBEB Chairman, Hon. Chidiebere Egboh, for their commitment towards improving the standard of education in Nigeria.
He also appreciated the Permanent Secretary of the Imo State Ministry of Education, Dr. Mrs. B.C.A. Okorie, for her unwavering support towards the successful implementations of the government policies and programmes on education.
Prof. Ikeagwuoha disclosed that the project is jointly funded by UBEC and the Imo State Government, with each contributing 50 percent towards its execution. He noted that Governor Hope Uzodimma remains committed to educational development and the advancement of digital learning in the state.
According to him, the initiative is designed to improve teaching and learning in public schools through the provision of modern instructional materials and digital facilities.
He stated that the items distributed include over 75,500 core textbooks for primary schools, 41,000 textbooks for nursery schools, laptops, tablets, smart boards, packets of chalks, pencils, biros, writing pads, and other educational materials aimed at enhancing academic excellence as his Agency has streamline the days for each Council to come and Carry the material back to their various Local Government Area and freely share accordingly with the local Government Area education authority to supervise the exercise for seamless monitoring and the SBMC members to ensure security of the materials.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical Sciences (STEMM) education, describing it as a pathway to poverty reduction and economic empowerment for young learners.
He further urged communities across the state to safeguard government educational projects and facilities within their localities.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Egboh said the introduction of digital tools into classrooms would promote creativity, innovation, research, and effective classroom engagement among teachers and pupils to ensure earlier technology known-how among Imo State children.
He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he described as the administration’s transformative investment in education, digital inclusion, and human capital development.
The IMSUBEB Chairman further appreciates the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garuba, for her unwavering support to the commission’s continued partnership in strengthening basic education delivery nationwide.
Egboh assured that the board would ensure proper deployment, utilization, and maintenance of the materials through continuous teacher training and digital literacy programmes.
He further called on traditional rulers, councillors, School-Based Management Committees, and Presidents-General to monitor the distribution process and ensure accountability security across the various local government areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of the UBEC Executive Secretary, Hon. Isaac Ichienwo, said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognizes the importance of quality education in national development.
He noted that the Federal Government, through UBEC and the Ministry of Education, would continue to support states in improving basic education and increasing school enrolment across the country.
He stressed the need for all distributed materials to reach the classrooms and pupils for whom they were intended, in order to facilitate qualitative and efficient nursery, primary, and junior secondary education in Nigeria.
Earlier in his speech, Hon. Egbo who earlier reaffirmed the commitment of the Imo State Government towards building an inclusive, technology-driven, and globally competitive basic education system in the state.
Further advocate for the return of Imo State children to the public schools so as to enjoy the new benefits to explore the world.
Many dignitaries and Stakeholders witnessed the flag of ceremony last Wednesday, 23 May, 2026. Including Deputy Chairman Imo Council of Traditional Rulers and Community Policing HRH Eze Engr. Fred. Nwachukwu, Majority Leader IMHA Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi (Egbe) and Hon. Okechukwu Uneze member for Owerri West and Ideato North State Constituency others are Dr. Ethian Chinakwe, Njaba SBMC Chairman and many Supervisors of Education across the State including Hon. Henry Obasi who is also President General Dim-na-nume Autonomous Community in Nwangele LGA, IMSUBEB Board Members and many others.
Reacting, ALGON Chairman Imo State as well as Executive Chairman Oru West, Engr.Ikenna Adikaibe, expressed appreciations and confidence in the leadership of the Primary and Secondary Education management team for the effective implementation of the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma’s policies on education.
He called on his colleagues in the 27 local Government Area of Imo State to ensure smooth implementation of the sharing process to ensure that the children put the material into effective learning for proper capacity building.
