POLICE HONOURS SHABA, IWUEZE, CHIDOMERE, OTHERS

The Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt, has strengthened its partnership with youths in the fight against crime and the promotion of peace and responsible citizenship.

The Command made this commitment during a Police–Youth Dialogue held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Owerri, to commemorate International Youth Day 2026, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, urged youths to reject cultism, drug abuse, political thuggery, violence and other forms of criminality, while encouraging them to work closely with the Police to prevent crime.

Bosso also advised residents to report suspicious activities through appropriate channels, stressing the message, “See Something, Say Something.”
Special training workshop and symposium for the youth from ACP. Shaba, Chief Police Officer Imo State Government House Owerri on Dangers of Drug Abuse amongst the youth and advised on the way out for the abusers. While ACP Linus Nwaiwu, Commander AIG X-Squad talked on the subject “See Something Say Something” and many other spokespersons including, CEO Pamtec Automobile Center Owerri, Engr. Ndubuisi Chidomere, who made remarkable points to the admiration of the audience.

The dialogue featured presentations on cultism, drug abuse, political violence, youth participation in crime prevention and responsible use of social media. Participants were equally urged to verify information before sharing it online, with the message, “Think Before You Click. Verify Before You Share.”

The highlight was an interactive Police–Youth Panel Discussion, which allowed young people to raise concerns and contribute to conversations on security, policing and youth development. Distinguished youths were also honoured for exemplary leadership, community service and responsible citizenship.

The event attracted government officials, youth leaders, students, social media influencers, civil society organisations, tertiary institution representatives, police officers and other stakeholders.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained engagement with youths as part of efforts to prevent crime, promote peaceful coexistence and strengthen public confidence in the Police.

As part of the International Youth Day activities, the Command also scheduled a novelty football match between the Imo State Police Command and Imo youths at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, followed by a Peace Walk on Saturday, August 22.

The Commissioner of Police called on Imo youths to embrace positive values, reject violence and criminality, use social media responsibly and cooperate with the Police and other lawful authorities in safeguarding their communities.

The major highlight in the event was the Official award from the Imo State Police Command to some eminently qualified persons who have positively contribution to the growth, improvement and the success of security operations in the State including ACP Shaba Adamu, Hon. Kelechi Iwueze, Mazi Jinali, Comrade Onyelike Darlington (Achiever) and few others.
