Amanator Community Elects Blaise Okwaranwaneri as New Traditional Ruler

The people of Amanator Autonomous Community in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State have elected Prince Blaise Uzoma Okwaranwaneri as the new traditional ruler of the community.
Prince Okwaranwaneri, who will be known as Eze Blaise Uzoma Okwaranwaneri, Ohazurumee I of Amanator and Echi II of Amanator, emerged victorious during the traditional rulership election held on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
His emergence brings to an end several years of vacancy in the traditional institution of the community, following the absence of a substantive traditional ruler.
The election, which attracted the participation of leaders and eligible members of Amanator Autonomous Community, was described by residents as a significant step towards restoring stability, unity and effective traditional leadership in the community.
Eze-elect Okwaranwaneri recorded a decisive victory, polling 195 votes to defeat his two other contenders, who garnered 12 votes and three votes respectively.
The wide margin of victory was seen as a strong indication of the confidence and acceptance enjoyed by the Eze-elect among the people of Amanator.
Speaking on the development, members of the community expressed optimism that the emergence of a substantive traditional ruler would usher in a new era of peace, unity, development and purposeful leadership in Amanator.
The people also expressed happiness that the long-vacant Ezeship stool had finally been occupied, stressing that the development would help strengthen the traditional institution and provide a rallying point for the sons and daughters of the community.
With the election concluded, attention is now expected to shift towards consolidating the unity of the community and supporting the new traditional ruler in his efforts to promote peace, development and the collective interests of Amanator.
The people of Amanator Autonomous Community have therefore been urged to close ranks and give the Eze-elect the necessary support to enable him provide effective and inclusive traditional leadership.
The election of Prince Blaise Uzoma Okwaranwaneri is expected to mark a new chapter in the history of Amanator, with the community looking forward to greater cohesion, progress and development under his leadership.
