Njaba Stakeholders Appeal For Cultural Revival, As Njaba Cultural Day is Celebrated In IMSU.

Some Personalities in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, have called for restoration, protection and celebration of Igbo traditional heritage and customs.
The request was made during the celebration of the 2026 Njaba Cultural Day , organized by Federation of Njaba Students Association ( FENSA) , held at Imo State University.
Speaking to the newsmen during the event, the immediate past Sole Administrator of Njaba , Hon Nze Obikeze Anaemem , noted that Igbo culture is declining, hence, it needed to be restored. He also said that the western culture introduced by the whites overshadowed Igbo culture , and this , according to him should be corrected. Hon Obikeze, was of opinion that the culture should be restored and revived, by writing it down and pass it to the younger generation, so as the younger generation should appreciate and embrace Igbo values.
His words ,” all we want is, let the younger generation embrace our culture and tradition . Let our culture be written in black and white, so that the younger generation can easily learn our culture and appreciate them “.
Continuing , Hon Obikeze opined that, “Igbo people are good in adapting another man’s culture, but our is very hard to adapt. We should make our culture to be known through writing”. Hon Obikeze concluded .
He further requested for unity among Njaba voice, he maintained that the voices of Njaba sons and daughters will be heard if they are united.
In his take, Prof F. N Mbagwu of Imo State University Owerri, who described culture, as the core foundation of society , maintained that Igbo cultural heritage should be restored from past generations to the next.
According to Prof Mbagwu, ” Culture is good, it gives people clear sense of self connection to their roots. It teaches what is right and passes down wisdom”.
Also speaking, Immediate Past Board Chairman of Imo State Community and Social Development Projects , Word Bank Assisted Projects, Imo State, Hon Damian Ezeji ( Voice of Njaba ) , noted that culture teaches lot of things and the impacts are overwhelming. He enjoined the 3R mantra of Senator Hope Uzodimma ‘s led administration to help and intervane and bring culture into the educational system , employ teachers who are endowed with culture to teach the younger generation. Hon Ezeji sighted that , the way culture is declining, if is not handled, it will die.
Adding his voice, the Supervisory Councilor For Youths and Culture, Njaba Local Government Area, Hon John Kennedy Ezerieokpoko, noted that, the younger generation should be taught culture, so that they will know and appreciate our culture in full.
Other Stakeholders during the celebration, includes , Hon Chigozie Ibenjo ( Abana) , Hon Mrs Uju Nwugo , ( Ugosimba) , Hon Ozioma Worship Ebonine , among others.
