The 2027 Imo State governorship hopeful, Chief Charles Orie (Akuatuegwu), has expressed deep condolences to the Oguzie family of Emeabiam Autonomous Community in Owerri West Local Government Area over the death of Hon. Mrs. Phoebe Obiageli Oguzie.

Hon. Mrs. Oguzie, who served as Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Primary Education, passed away recently after a life of dedicated service to the state and humanity. Describing her demise as painful, untimely, and a great loss, Chief Orie said her death has created a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

He noted that the late Mrs. Oguzie lived an exemplary life marked by humility, dedication, and selfless service, qualities he said should serve as an inspiration to others. He urged her husband, children, relatives, friends, and associates to take solace in the belief that she died in Christ and has gone to rest with her Creator.

Chief Orie made the remarks during the Night of Tribute held in honour of the deceased at St. Andrew’s Anglican Parish, Prefab, Owerri, on Friday, ahead of her burial on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The tribute attracted several prominent personalities, including the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru; former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha; Chief TEO Ekechi; Chief Ejike Chukwu; Prince Lasbery Okaforanyanwu; Chief Charles Ahize (Charley Akpuruka na Orlu), as well as other political leaders, traditional rulers, family members, and well-wishers.

Speaking on his governorship ambition, Chief Orie reiterated his commitment to the development of Imo State. He maintained that the governorship should, in the spirit of fairness and justice, rotate to the Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta axis, noting that the people of the area have made significant contributions to the political and economic development of the state.

He, however, expressed reservations about the implementation of the state’s equity principle, arguing that recent political developments do not fully reflect the ideals of equity and fairness.

Chief Orie also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what he described as remarkable achievements in infrastructure and governance. He pledged that, if elected governor in 2027, he would build on the existing achievements of the administration and deepen grassroots development to ensure greater prosperity across Imo State.
