2027: APP Governorship Aspirant, Mazi Matthew Amadi, Unveils Vision for Improved Democratic Governance in Imo State

The African Peoples Party (APP) 2027 governorship aspirant in Imo State, Mazi Matthew Chima Amadi, has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for democratic governance and sustainable development in the state, with a strong focus on industrialisation, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Addressing party chieftains and critical stakeholders at a statewide meeting held on January 6 in Owerri, carried live by Arise Television and other New Management Organization, Including OtimkpuNews Online, Mazi Amadi described the engagement as a necessary step toward reintroducing effective and people-centred governance in Imo State.
Popularly known as Mazi Gburu-Gburu, the aspirant outlined his vision for transforming the state through a systematic, investment-driven economy. He called on Imo citizens to critically examine issues surrounding revenue allocation and utilisation by both the current and past administrations, describing the state of affairs as worrisome.
According to him, Imo State urgently requires a declaration of emergency in key sectors such as road infrastructure, healthcare, industrial revitalisation, and the maintenance of legacy industries established by previous administrations.
Mazi Amadi also advocated for reforms in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) system to attract external investors. He stressed the need to create an enabling business environment through the decentralisation of state ministries, agencies, and parastatals across the three senatorial zones and the 27 local government areas, rather than concentrating them within Owerri Municipal Council.
Speaking further, the governorship hopeful assured stakeholders that his administration would not be driven by vendetta or political witch-hunting but passion to make the State work again.
“I will not chase shadows or engage in vindictiveness over the wrongs of past administrations. My focus will be on correcting anomalies through the rule of law and due process,” he said.
He added, “This will not be business as usual. While the present government may have tried, the state’s development level remains far below expectation. We will improve development by ensuring that public funds are utilised strictly in the interest of the people.”
Reacting to the address, stakeholders from the academic, science, technology, and innovation sectors expressed confidence in Mazi Amadi’s vision and pledged their support to ensure its successful implementation for the overall benefit of Imo State.
In a gesture reflecting his commitment to poverty eradication, the unblemished political figure and APP governorship hopeful distributed 20 dollars each to over 5,000 participants at the stakeholders’ meeting held at Maranatha Hotel, Owerri. He reiterated his assurance that his administration would prioritise economic empowerment and restore Imo State to greatness.
