Imo Police, POCACOV Urge Residents to Shun Crime for Hitch-Free Christmas
Commends Officers for the Road Work

The Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has urged residents of the state to shun crime and other social vices to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas celebration.
The call was made on December 19, 2025, when the Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, embarked on a 10-kilometre awareness walk against cultism and related criminal activities across the Owerri metropolis.
In a press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the campaign was aimed at sensitising members of the public on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices, while promoting peace, lawfulness, responsible behaviour, and community safety during the festive season.
According to the statement, the awareness walk featured over 100 officers of the Imo State Police Command who marched through major routes in Owerri, engaging residents and passing key messages on crime prevention and peaceful coexistence.
DSP Okoye noted that the initiative aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s strategic drive to enhance peace and security through non-kinetic, community-based policing approaches that foster trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility between the police and the public.
The Imo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the festive period through sustained sensitization, preventive policing, and active community participation. Residents were further encouraged to remain law-abiding, shun crime, and support the police in ensuring a peaceful and crime-free Christmas.
