IMO STATE POLICE LAUNCHES OPERATION TO RESCUE KIDNAPPED EX-LAWMAKER HON. NGOZI OGBU, HUNT DOWN PERPETRATORS

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed it is actively working to rescue Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly who represented the Okigwe State Constituency, following a viral video showing him in captivity.
In a Press release from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, said that according to a statement from the Command, Hon. Ogbu was abducted on September 7, 2025, in the Onuimo area by suspected members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN group.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Command’s Tactical Units, working in collaboration with other security agencies, to track down the suspects and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted lawmaker. A thorough investigation is already underway.
The Command is urging members of the public to remain calm but vigilant, and to provide any useful information that could aid the rescue operation. Relevant information can be reported to the nearest police station or via the Command’s emergency line: 0803 477 3600.
The Imo State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, and vows that no stone will be left unturned until Hon. Ogbu is rescued and those responsible are brought to justice.
