Chief Sam Anokam, an Estate Surveyor, Community Leader and Political Chieftains has called on the National Assembly to review Nigeria’s democracy and ensure the actualization of the principles of separation of powers.

Chief Anokam made the observation while briefing newsmen in Owerri Imo State on Wednesday 12 June 2024, he expressed disappointment with the country’s democratic journey, citing lack of infrastructure, economic failure, unemployment, corruption, and poor healthcare as indicators of retrogression.

Anokam advocated for a return to the regional system of government, which he believes will promote healthy competition and development among regions, reduce insecurity, and address marginalization.

He also supported the proposed 6-year single term for presidency and governorship, saying it will check excesses and encourage leaders to focus on legacy rather than re-election.

Additionally, he urged the people to allow market forces to dictate prices, reflecting the economic reality.
