NDC Diaspora Leader, Chief Elekwachi, Calls for Peace, Unity Ahead of 2027
..Says Peace Panacea for Development

The Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Diaspora Chief Macaulay Nnamdi Elekwachi, Nkwa Chikwere I of Amatta Autonomous Community in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has called for peace, unity and reconciliation among the party’s leadership and members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chief Elekwachi, who made the appeal while addressing members of the party in Vienna, Austria, urged the national leadership of the party, particularly the National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State, and the National Chairman, Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, to remain committed to the ideals of the party and intensify efforts to resolve existing disagreements among members.
He specifically appealed to the party leadership to pursue an amicable, out-of-court resolution of pending litigations arising from the party’s last primary elections, where possible, arguing that reconciliation would create the atmosphere required for the party to prepare effectively for the 2027 elections.
The NDC Diaspora Leader also called on party members and other critical stakeholders, particularly members of the Obedient Movement family, to embrace peace, unity and reconciliation in the broader interest of the party and the Nigerian people.
According to him, internal disagreements, personal interests and unresolved grievances should not be allowed to undermine the growth and stability of the opposition party.
He said the NDC could only present a strong political alternative through a united front, discipline, mutual respect and commitment to a common objective.

Chief Elekwachi urged party members and supporters to remain focused on the objectives of the NDC and support its candidates across the various levels of the electoral process, from the ward and local government levels to the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and presidential elections.
He said collective commitment among members would strengthen the party’s capacity to pursue its agenda of national development, economic revival and improved security of lives and property.
Rather not allowing such ugly development to create further division, Elekwachi said they should rather chose to support the party, its candidates and programmes, a commitment which, according to him, would eventually earned every member of the party as recognition of national builders.
He therefore appealed to members who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the party’s primary elections to put aside personal differences and embrace dialogue and reconciliation.
The party leader further urged members involved in legal disputes or disagreements with the national or state leadership to explore the party’s available reconciliation mechanisms, stressing that dialogue remained important to rebuilding trust and strengthening internal cohesion.
Elekwachi also appealed to party members to place the collective interest above personal ambitions, sentiments and acrimony, maintaining that political parties could only achieve their objectives when members were willing to make sacrifices for the common good.
He expressed concern over what he described as the attitude of individuals who place personal interests above contributions to the development of society, urging party members to work for the greater good and uphold principles capable of promoting justice, development and good governance.
The NDC Diaspora Leader expressed optimism that a united opposition, operating within the democratic process, could contribute meaningfully to what he described as the emergence of a “new Nigeria,” where present and future generations would have greater reasons to be proud of their country.
He consequently appealed to all factions and aggrieved members of the party to sheath their swords, embrace reconciliation and work collectively towards strengthening the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
