Equity Demands Fair Share for Oru East in 2027 Federal Constituency Representation
Princess Christina Eligwe, ADP Remain Best Option

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election, calls for equity and fairness in the distribution of political representation have continued to gain attention in the Oru East/Orsu/Orlu Federal Constituency of Imo State.
At the centre of the renewed agitation is the argument that Oru East Local Government Area should be given an opportunity to produce the next representative of the three-local-government federal constituency, with former Special Adviser to the Imo State Government on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Humanitarian Services, Hon. Princess Christina Ijeoma Eligwe, emerging as the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for the 2027 election.
Supporters of Eligwe contend that the principle of equity requires the three constituent local government areas to have a fair opportunity to occupy the federal seat, arguing that Oru East should not be left out of the rotation of representation.
They maintain that the campaign for Oru East to produce the next member of the House of Representatives is not merely about an individual candidate, but about fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity for the three local government areas that make up the constituency.
Eligwe, who has a background in accounting and public-sector development, has been presented by her supporters as a grassroots-oriented politician with experience in humanitarian and social intervention programmes.
During her previous public service career, she served as Special Adviser on SDGs and Humanitarian Services, with her portfolio linked to social intervention and humanitarian initiatives. Her emergence as the ADP candidate places her among the contenders seeking to represent Oru East, Orsu and Orlu at the National Assembly in 2027.
Speaking on her aspiration, Eligwe is expected to campaign on the promise of people-oriented representation, accountability and the attraction of development initiatives to the constituency.
She has also maintained that, if elected, her representation would focus on ensuring that the interests and developmental needs of constituents are given priority.
According to her supporters, the 2027 election provides an opportunity for the people of Oru East, Orsu and Orlu to examine the records, experience, programmes and capacity of all the candidates before making their choice.
They argued that representation at the National Assembly should translate into meaningful development, effective legislative advocacy and improved access to federal opportunities for constituents.
Eligwe has therefore continued to project her candidacy as an opportunity to promote what she describes as a new approach to representation, with emphasis on accountability, inclusion and development.
For her supporters, the argument is straightforward: if equity and fairness are to guide the sharing of political opportunities within the constituency and o State in general, Oru East should have its fair opportunity to produce the next Federal Representative.
The final decision, however, rests with the electorate across Oru East, Orsu and Orlu when the National Assembly election is held in 2027. INEC has listed the 2027 National Assembly election for January 16, 2027 as Princess Christina Eligwe remains committed to the call as the people’s choice.
