Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN), through its Golden Penny Foods brand, has reaffirmed the strategic importance of Nigeria’s Eastern region to its business growth by rewarding outstanding distributors and dealers with millions of naira at its 2026 Business-to-Consumer (B2C) Eastern Region Conference held in Owerri.
The colourful conference, themed “Reset, Rebound, Win Big, Foot to the Floor,” took place on Monday at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, attracting dealers, business partners and other stakeholders from across the Eastern region.
Speaking with journalists at the end of the event, the Associate Director, Trade Marketing, Golden Penny Foods, Mrs. Abiola Ademuwaju, said the Eastern region was deliberately selected to host the conference because of its significant contribution to the company’s growth and market success.
She noted that consumers in the Eastern region account for a substantial share of FMN’s products, including sugar, flour, cereals and noodles, making the zone a critical market for the company.
According to her, the Eastern Region Conference is the company’s only regional edition, organised specifically to appreciate the loyalty, commitment and patronage of dealers and business partners in the region, while FMN continues to hold its annual national conference.
“The East has always been special to us at Flour Mills of Nigeria because a significant proportion of our products are consumed here. As the biggest food company in Nigeria, with aspirations to become the largest in West Africa and beyond, we cannot afford to take this region for granted,” she said.
Ademuwaju explained that the cash rewards presented during the conference were based strictly on the volume of products purchased by dealers within the qualifying period, noting that the beneficiaries earned the recognition through sustained investment and unwavering support for the company’s brands.
She disclosed that becoming an FMN wholesaler requires a minimum investment of between ₦200,000 and ₦500,000, while wholesale status is granted to dealers who purchase at least 200 cartons of products monthly.
Speaking on the popularity of the Golden Penny brand, she attributed its enduring success to the consistent quality of its products and the confidence consumers have developed in the brand over the years.
She added that although Semovita is a semolina product, the brand has become so popular that many Nigerians now use the name interchangeably with semolina.
Ademuwaju further stated that despite FMN not being wholly Nigerian-owned, its products have become deeply embedded in the country’s food culture and continue to enjoy widespread acceptance nationwide.
The highlight of the conference was the presentation of cash awards to outstanding dealers, with Mrs. Ozigbo Marble emerging as the highest award recipient after receiving a cash prize of over ₦10 million.
Expressing her delight, Marble commended Flour Mills of Nigeria for recognising and rewarding the dedication of its business partners, describing the initiative as a major source of motivation for distributors and dealers.
She attributed her success to consistency in purchasing large volumes of Golden Penny products and ensuring their availability to consumers, while urging the company to sustain the reward programme.
The event also featured live entertainment by renowned Igbo Highlife music legend, Chief Bright Chimezie, whose electrifying performance alongside his Sigma Band thrilled participants. Guests were treated to an array of sumptuous meals and exotic drinks, adding glamour to the memorable occasion.
