The Executive Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Pastor Christian Mbarie, has highlighted his administration’s achievements, saying they have significantly enhanced infrastructure, security, economic activities and the welfare of residents across the council area.

Mbarie made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving the executive members of the Coalition of Orlu Zone Journalists (COZJ), who paid him a routine assessment visit at the Orlu Local Government Council Headquarters.

Welcoming the journalists, the council chairman expressed appreciation for the visit and used the opportunity to present an overview of his administration’s performance since assuming office. Including building a executive council Secretariat and moulding the Orlu Executive Council podium to ensure that the Council wears a look of Zonal headquarters to the entire Orlu Zone.

According to him, some other landmark projects executed by his administration include the renovation and refurbishment of the council hall, rehabilitation of the council headquarters borehole with the installation of a 2.5-horsepower submersible pump, completion of a nine-room administrative office block and the Executive Council Chamber, as well as the installation of solar power facilities within the council secretariat.

He also listed the renovation of the Customary Court building, grading of the Umuna/Umudiatu Road, Amaezie/Ama Okonko Umuna Road and Umuezike/Teaching Hospital Road as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area.

On empowerment and education, Mbarie disclosed that over 300 indigent women received ₦80,000 each through the council’s empowerment programme, while more than 150 students benefited from free JAMB registration. He added that 250 indigent students also received university scholarship support through the council’s educational intervention initiative.

The chairman further revealed that his administration had revitalised the council’s poultry farm, constructed over 400 open market stalls designated as a free trading zone at the Umuna ultra Modern Market, evacuated refuse and toxic waste at Ogbo Bottle, commenced the construction of new bus stops, approved constituency projects for councillors and strengthened security measures that have restored peace and public confidence in the area.

Mbarie attributed the successes recorded by his administration to the harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the council, council staff and other stakeholders committed to the development of Orlu including the council workers. “Infact we are working as a team” he said

He stressed that his administration is people-oriented and focused on delivering quality service, noting that his leadership style is inspired by the developmental vision of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

According to him, the governor’s leadership has brought remarkable development to Orlu Local Government Area and other parts of the state, while also restoring peace and confidence through the policies of the 3R administration.

“I see leadership as an opportunity to serve, make sacrifices and positively impact the lives of the people by restoring their confidence in government. My political mentor and Boss, Governor Hope Uzodimma, taught me the true meaning of sacrificial leadership, and we must continue to serve our people diligently” Mbarie said.
