A Poke Trajectory Follow-Up to Prince Eze Madumere

By Anselem Anokwute

The political journey of former Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, continues to attract public attention, with many observers reflecting on his years in public service and the impact of his leadership.

One of the memorable moments in his political career was the grand reception held at the Orie Mbieri Market Square in Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, on April 7, 2012. Organised by the Umu Mbieri United Mbaitoli, the event honoured Madumere for his contributions as Chief of Staff to the then Governor of Imo State and celebrated his commitment to community development and public service and the “Ogbuhuruzo 1 of Mbieri”

The reception served as a testament to the confidence reposed in him by his people, who commended his inclusive leadership style and his dedication to the growth of Mbieri Clan, Mbaitoli LGA, and Imo State at large. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, Madumere was widely regarded as a disciplined administrator who played a key role in coordinating government activities and supervising appointments.

Many of those who worked with him continue to describe him as a principled leader, noting that he carried out his responsibilities with integrity, maturity and fairness. His ability to resist undue influence and remain focused on service earned him respect across political divides.

Beyond his administrative competence, Madumere was recognised for identifying and encouraging talented individuals, many of whom have gone on to occupy important positions in government and society. His leadership style was strategic, organised and development-oriented.

As a young journalist who followed his political trajectory, I observed a calm, calculated and intelligent politician whose measured approach to governance distinguished him from many of his contemporaries. Those qualities, many believe, explain why he continues to enjoy the loyalty of supporters even during periods of political adversity.

His political challenges, including the impeachment saga during his tenure as Deputy Governor, eventually ended in his favour through judicial intervention, further strengthening his reputation as a resilient political figure.

Recent political developments have also seen Madumere return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move he described as a “homecoming.” This aligns with records showing that he was among the pioneer members of the PDP in Imo State, as documented in the programme of events for his 2012 reception.

Today, with discussions surrounding the 2027 Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senatorial election gathering momentum, many of his supporters believe his wealth of experience in public administration positions him as a strong contender capable of providing effective representation.

Throughout his public service, Madumere has maintained a reputation for philanthropy and grassroots engagement. His supporters express confidence that, if given another opportunity to serve, he would prioritise youth and women empowerment, employment opportunities for graduates, and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the elderly across Owerri Zone.

For many political observers, Prince Eze Madumere’s journey remains one defined by resilience, experience and an enduring commitment to public service.

Ndi Owerri Zone are firm and ready to gather again for the Success of Prince Eze Madumere at the Senate in 2027 a most qualified and accessible for the job as many of them are currently wishing him happy 62 years birthday, hoping to celebrate next year’s birthday with him at the floor of Nigeria Senate.
