The Progressives Forum of Indigenes and Non-Indigenes of Owerri Municipal (PFINIM), a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared its not only support for Mazi Franklin O. Ebere Njoku (popularly known as Kaka) ahead of the 2027 Imo State House of Assembly elections but moved in unison to procure the nomination and Expression of interest forms for him.

The endorsement was conveyed on Monday, May 4, 2026, when the Coordinating Leader of PFINIM and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Old English Bar Reservation, Chief Uzochukwu Muna Elui, led a delegation to the APC office in Owerri on Njoku’s behalf to obtain the form.

Speaking to journalists, Chief Uzochukwu Elui, expressed confidence in Njoku’s leadership qualities, stating that he possesses the capacity to deliver effective representation and sponsor people-oriented legislation that would benefit both Owerri Municipal and Imo State at large mostly the genzees.

Meanwhile, political activities are gathering momentum across the state as other aspirants have also obtained their nomination forms ahead of the elections.

Among them is Sir Modestus Nwankpa, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The “BigTruth Newspaper” and Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Print Media, who is contesting for the Oguta State Constituency seat.

Also in the race is the incumbent lawmaker representing Orlu State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Ikenna Ihezuo, who has confirmed his intention to seek re-election.

In Owerri North, Dr. Elvis Anumudu has expressed optimism about his ambition to represent the constituency, stating confidence in his chances.

Similarly, Chief Greg Ngobidi Nwosu, Imo State Coordinator of CampHope Organisation Worldwide, is contesting for the Orlu State Constituency seat. He emphasized the importance of zoning and equity, arguing that it is his bloc’s turn to produce the next lawmaker, while alleging marginalization within the Orlu area.

In a related development, businessman and socialite, Mazi Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has position himself and declared his intention to contest for the Orlu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, covering Orlu, Orsu, and Oru-East local government areas.

He recently obtained his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja and subsequently visited the Imo APC State Secretariat to formally notify party officials of his ambition.

Speaking briefly, he expressed optimism about his prospects in the 2027 general elections and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hope Uzodimma for their leadership. He also urged Nigerians to support the APC in the forthcoming polls.

As more aspirants continue to signal interest, political activities within the APC in Imo State are expected to intensify in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
