The aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State have begun obtaining their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the 2027 general elections, with pledges to deliver effective and people-oriented representation.

One of the aspirants, Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Chukwuezi from Ogwa in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, said she heeded the call of her constituents to contest for the Mbaitoli State House of Assembly seat. She noted that her decision was driven by a desire to provide quality representation and promote inclusive legislation.

Chukwuezi emphasized her commitment to amplifying the voices of women, the vulnerable, and the less privileged, assuring that they would be adequately carried along in government policies and programmes.

“I am poised to do things the right way and ensure that the interests of my people are well represented,” she said.

In Ikeduru Local Government Area, Chief Henry Igbokwe from Amaimo Autonomous Community has also obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the State House of Assembly seat.

Speaking to newsmen, Igbokwe, a grassroots politician and technocrat, expressed confidence in his ability to address what he described as ineffective representation in the area. He pledged to attract the dividends of democracy to his constituency and ensure that the people’s voices are heard.

“I have contributed my quota as an individual, but with this mandate, I will serve the people better and ensure effective and responsive representation,” he stated.

Meanwhile, several other aspirants across the state have also obtained their nomination forms at the APC state secretariat in Owerri. They include Hon. Mrs. Calista Anene for the Oguta State House of Assembly seat and Chief Chibuzo Okorie from Ozalla for the Oru West State House of Assembly seat, Hon. Mrs Blessing Nwoba, Lady B for Ihite uboma State House of Assembly seat, respectively.

The aspirants commended the party leadership in the state, led by Prince Engr. Austin Onyedebelu, for ensuring a transparent and fair process. They also expressed confidence in the party’s adherence to the directive of its national leadership, which mandates that State Assembly nomination forms be obtained at state offices, while those for National Assembly and senatorial positions are handled at the national level.
