Commending Hon. Marcel Amadioha’s Intervention on Avu–Egbema Road Reconstruction Project

Effective leadership is defined by vision, decisive action, and a people-centred approach. These qualities are increasingly associated with the Executive Chairman of Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, whose recent intervention on the Avu–Adapalm–Egbema Road reconstruction project elevates his commitment to grassroots development initiatives.

The Avu–Egbema Road, a vital link connecting several rural communities in Ohaji-Egbema to Owerri, the Imo State capital, has for years remained in a deplorable condition. Its state of disrepair has posed serious challenges to residents, motorists, and businesses, impeding economic activities and daily life. Concerns have also been raised over the apparent lack of progress by the original construction firm, RUDO Construction Company, amid allegations of politicisation and undue power play—factors believed to have undermined the broader efforts of the Imo State Government in improving road infrastructure across the state.

Determined to change the narrative, Hon. Amadioha, a resident leader who uses the road regularly, has taken proactive steps to address the situation. On Tuesday, his office, in collaboration with Seplat Energy, commenced remedial work on the most critical and dangerous sections of the road, particularly along the Obogwe–Amafor–Adapalm–Etekwuru axis. This intervention has brought renewed hope to road users and affected communities.

The collaboration with Seplat Energy highlights the impact of strategic partnerships between government and the private sector in tackling infrastructural challenges. It also reflects the Chairman’s pragmatic approach to governance and problem-solving.

Furthermore, Hon. Amadioha’s call on the Imo State Government to reassign the road project to a more reputable firm, such as Craneburg Construction Company, has been widely described as timely and commendable. Craneburg’s track record in executing quality road projects across the state lends credibility to the call and raises expectations for durable and timely completion if engaged.

Hon. Amadioha’s sustained advocacy and hands-on involvement demonstrate a deep commitment to the welfare of the people and the development of critical infrastructure. His leadership on the Avu–Egbema Road issue reflects a resolve to deliver practical solutions and lasting impact.

Stakeholders and residents remain optimistic that, under his stewardship and with the continued support of relevant partners, the Avu–Egbema Road will be reconstructed to acceptable standards, ultimately enhancing mobility, safety, and economic growth in the area.
