Jubilation in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri as CSP Obikezie Loveday, bags ‘Ikeoha I’, Dr Ndubuisi gets Ezienyi, Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Chieftaincy Titles

There was widespread jubilation in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, as the Traditional Ruler of the community, His Royal Majesty, Eze Aloysius Igwe, conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Ikeoha I” on a distinguished police officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Obikezie Loveday and Chief. Dr. Chinedu Ndubuisi Owners of Cocean Oil and Gas Limited received Ikeoha1 and Ezienyi Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Chieftaincy titles.
The colourful ceremony, which took place on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the palace of Eze Igwe, was a celebration of royalty, outstanding service, dedication to public safety, and impactful leadership. It marked a moment of pride, joy, and deep cultural significance for the community.
The event was particularly historic as it also featured the coronation of Eze Aloysius Igwe as “Ezeoma II”, and “Chinemeze I” of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri. The occasion attracted dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria, underscoring the importance of the monarch’s ascension and the high esteem in which CSP Obikezie is held.
Held amid pomp and pageantry, the ceremony celebrated CSP Obikezie for his exceptional service delivery, unwavering commitment to public safety and security, and remarkable contributions to the restoration of peace and stability in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri and its environs. Community members and guests erupted in joy, describing the honour as well-deserved, noting that the recipient had served humanity and the community,( his maternal home) with uncommon dedication and selflessness.
While performing the conferment, Eze Igwe described CSP Obikezie as a worthy son who has brought pride to the community and the larger society through his professional conduct and devotion to duty. The monarch stated that the chieftaincy title was in recognition of the officer’s good works, dedication, and exemplary service, and offered royal blessings and prayers, urging him to remain steadfast in his service to humanity.
The ceremony, which also included the conferment of chieftaincy titles on other recipients, featured rich cultural displays. However, the spotlight remained on CSP Obikezie, who received overwhelming solidarity as traditional dances, music, and chants vividly expressed the people’s approval of the honour.
In his response, CSP Obikezie congratulated Eze Igwe on his ascension to the throne and expressed profound gratitude to the monarch and the people of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri for finding him worthy of such a prestigious title. He pledged to intensify his efforts toward sustaining peace and security in the community and beyond, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and to support security agencies in the fight against crime.
CSP Obikezie, who is the Commander of the CP’s Surveillance Unit at the Imo State Police Headquarters, Owerri, attributed his professional successes to the visionary and proactive leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma. He also called for continued cooperation with the police in crime-fighting efforts.
The newly installed Ikeoha I of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri, a recipient of several awards from different quarters, was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Nkechi Jennifer Obikezie, who was also honoured with the title “Lolo Omasiridiya.” Family members, friends, colleagues, community leaders, and well-wishers joined in celebrating the landmark recognition of a life devoted to service.
Findings revealed that CSP Obikezie Loveday is widely admired for his deep reverence for God, team spirit, accommodation of others, approachability, dedication to duty, investigative skills, combat readiness, and high level of professionalism. He has attended numerous professional courses and is regarded by colleagues and associates as a bridge-builder who consistently exemplifies the highest standards of policing in line with established rules of engagement.
