ENTRACO Personnel Allegedly Kill Two in Owerri Accident

Tension is rising in Owerri, the Imo State capital, following a fatal accident that claimed two lives allegedly caused by personnel of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO).
The incident occurred on Monday, November 10, 2025, along Akachi Road near St. Mulumba Catholic Church, by Wetheral Road, Owerri. Witnesses said the tragedy happened when ENTRACO officials were chasing a commercial vehicle. In an attempt to overtake another car, the ENTRACO vehicle reportedly rammed into a motorbike, allegedly killing the two occupants instantly.
When our correspondent visited the scene, the victims’ bodies were still lying on the road unattended, while the ENTRACO personnel had fled to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident to Daily Star Newspaper Correspondent, the ENTRACO General Manager, Prince. Anthony Anyaehie, said the motorbike was riding on one Way against traffic when it collided head-on with his Personnel official vehicle.
According to him, the agency’s driver has reported himself immediately to the Imo State Area Police Command, where he is currently detained after making a statement while investigation is ongoing as only one is confirmed dead while the other victim is in the hospital as he pray for the recovery of the patient and console the family of the late biker.
It would be recalled that just two weeks ago, the same agency allegedly invaded a market at Toronto Junction along MCC Road, Owerri, allegedly destroying shops and looting traders’ ware.
In another incident, ENTRACO personnel allegedly reported to shot dead one Mr. Ordu at Umuchima, Umuoba Uratta, in Owerri North Local Government Area, leaving several others injured a claim that is yet to diffuse.
Reacting to the latest tragedy, some residents of Owerri have called on the state government to disband the agency Taskforce, alleging that ENTRACO officials have become a menace to society through their reckless and violent conduct.
