Imo APC is United, Strong, and Unstoppable – Organizing Secretary, Hon. Iyke Umeh
By Anselem Anokwute, Owerri
The Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Hon. Iyke Umeh, has reaffirmed that the party remains united, intact, and undefeatable under the leadership of the State Chairman, Sir MacDonald Ebere and the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma the “Infrastructure Governor” of the Year.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists in Owerri, Hon. Umeh praised the harmonious working relationship within the state executive, describing it as a result of Sir Ebere’s pragmatic and inclusive leadership style. According to him, the party’s unity stems from a shared vision driven by Governor Hope Uzodimma, whose leadership has fostered a peaceful and results-driven atmosphere within the party.
“Our State Chairman, Sir MacDonald Ebere, PHD, has allowed every executive member to operate freely, in love and unity, which has strengthened our collective resolve to move the party forward,” Umeh said.
He expressed confidence in the cohesion among members of the State Executive Committee and predicted even greater success in future political engagements.
“The APC in Imo State has consistently proven its strength in recent elections. We are not just a party; we are a united political family ready to achieve more,” he added.
Speaking further, Hon. Umeh, who also serves as the National Coordinator and Chairman of all APC Organizing Secretaries in Nigeria, reflected on his political journey. He attributed his rise to national recognition to his tenure as the State Auditor of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), where his integrity and diligence earned him the State’s Best Auditor Award in 2014—along with a cash reward of ₦500,000 from both the national and state levels of the party at the time.
Umeh noted that his track record in the PDP, and later as the Commissioner for Science and Technology, helped prepare him for his current role in the APC. “I brought the same energy, transparency, and commitment into my position as the APC State Organizing Secretary. I am proud to say that the synergy within the party’s executive, under Sir MacDonald Ebere, is second to none,” he said.
On the recent statewide tour embarked upon by the Imo APC Working Committee, Umeh explained that the initiative was designed to engage grassroots leaders and update them on key decisions from the party’s national leadership—particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent directive on the extension of the party convention.
He emphasized that the tour provided an opportunity for direct interaction with ward and local government executives, fostering internal communication and strengthening the party’s structure at all levels.
“We used the tour to listen to the needs of our members across the state,” Umeh explained. “In Njaba, for instance, we raised funds for a member facing a medical emergency. In Owerri West, we facilitated the payment of state insurance levies so our officers could access benefits. And in Aboh Mbaise, we helped a recently retired member expedite his gratuity processing.”
According to Umeh, such acts of solidarity demonstrate the APC’s commitment to the welfare of its members, further reinforcing the party’s grassroots strength and resilience.
“The APC in Imo is not just a political party—it is a movement built on compassion, vision, and unity. With Governor Hope Uzodimma’s leadership and the support of our Chairman, Sir MacDonald Ebere, we are ready to take on any political challenge,” he concluded.
