Itu Ezinihite Mbaise Commends Philanthropist Bright Akachi Alozie for Transformative Community Projects

The people of Itu Autonomous Community in Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State have expressed deep appreciation and admiration for their son, Comrade Bright Akachi Alozie, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of the area.

Comrade Alozie was praised for his unwavering commitment to improving the standard of living in the community through a series of impactful projects, including the establishment of a subsidised secondary tertiary hospital, rehabilitation of the Eke Itu Market equipped with solar-powered lighting to support night-time trading, and the provision of a solar-powered borehole water system to address the community’s water needs. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the projects, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Barrister Louis Alozie – a cousin of the philanthropist – described the initiatives as part of a long-standing tradition of service in the Alozie family. He noted that these efforts are a strategic complement to the state government’s developmental goals, particularly in advocating for more government development project in Itu to be considered as the permanent site of the Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Council Headquarters.

Chief Alozie commended Comrade Bright Akachi Alozie’s visionary and meticulous approach, especially at a time when governmental neglect has left many communities in hardship.

He called on the beneficiaries of the empowerment schemes to make good use of the opportunity, not just for personal benefit but for the wider progress of Itu, Ezinihite Mbaise, and Imo State.

He also encouraged them to maintain discipline and extend help to others, praying for continued prosperity and good health for his cousin.

The President-General of the Itu Development Union, Chief Paul Santos Uzoma, lauded Comrade Alozie’s large-heartedness and enduring legacy. He urged other well-meaning sons and daughters of the community to emulate his example in order to alleviate poverty and suffering.

Chief Uzoma also stressed the importance of monitoring and maintaining the projects to encourage the benefactor’s continued support.

In separate remarks, the member representing Ezinihite Mbaise in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Henry Agbasonu, and the Executive Chairman of Ezinihite Mbaise LGA, Hon. Ambrose Nwachukwu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Comrade Alozie. They assured him of their support in ensuring the sustainability of his vision, while also pledging to bring his contributions to the attention of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Chairman Nwachukwu confirmed his office’s official approval of the hospital project, market rehabilitation, and construction of community link roads, emphasising that the initiatives will benefit not only Itu but surrounding communities. He called for unity among Itu indigenes, describing it as the cornerstone of sustainable development.

Dr Obialor Onukaogu, Head of the newly commissioned hospital, thanked Comrade Alozie for his magnanimity and vision in enhancing local healthcare delivery. He assured residents that the facility would focus on affordable treatment and disease prevention, and noted that an ambulance service would soon be operational.

In his response, Comrade Bright Akachi Alozie stated that his passion for development stems from a divine conviction to give back to the society that shaped him.

He revealed that a sum of ₦150 million has been deposited to support the hospital’s maintenance and operations, ensuring long-term sustainability.

He emphasised that the hospital will offer services at subsidised rates and that the empowerment scheme – which includes over 30 mini buses, motorcycles, wheelbarrows, school uniforms, bags, and sandals – was designed to create job opportunities and reduce poverty.

He warned previous beneficiaries who had misused earlier support that they may no longer be considered for future schemes, urging new recipients to use the items responsibly and help uplift others.

The event was attended by several dignitaries and stakeholders, including Professor Uzodimma Nwala, Chief Joseph Alozie father of the donor, Engr. Nnanyereugo Osuagwu former President General Itu Development Union, Engr Chinedu Maduka, PG, Amaiyi Itu Community, Comrade Kingsley Nwachukwu, Eze-elect, Chief Alexander Eberendu, and many others, who applauded the milestone achievements as a turning point in the history of Itu Autonomous Community.
