The Imo State Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with the Office of Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma on Monitoring and Compliance, Special Adviser SA. Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, has blocked traffic congestion entrances on Douglas Road in Owerri Municipal Council Area to reduce congestion.
The blockages aim to ensure a free flow of traffic, following executive orders to withdraw street and illegal trading activities.
All adjoining traffic congestion entrances and points have been blocked, except for designated turning points at Ama Hausa and Ama JK are the only authorized U-turn points.
The Major Motor Park at Eke Onunwa is available for traders and customers.
Motorists are warned to use designated turning points, and those caught violating the order will face prosecution under State traffic laws.
According to the workers the aims including to reduce heavy traffic jams and ensure safety on Douglas Road.
The road is a major federal exit and entrance to the state, requiring efficient traffic management.
Imo State Traffic Officers, led by Comrade Frank Obi Uche, are enforcing the blockages as well as to
oversees compliance and ensures adherence to traffic regulations
The exercise was among the recent innovations adopted by the Commissioner for Transport Imo State, Chief Emeka Okoronkwo and Special Adviser SA on Monitoring and Compliance Nze Chinasa Nwaneri to ensure easy flow of traffic within the Owerri Municipal Council a testament to the good legacies of the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma on road infrastructure development in the State.
