Food Security: Farmers Helping Hand, Procures 35 Hectares For 2025 Farmland, Celebrates 2024 End of Harvest Season in fun fare

In a collective efforts to curb Food scarcity and shortages in Nigeria, Farmers Helping Hand, (F2H), Orlu Zone, Imo State Chapter, has Procured over 35 Hectares of arable land for the groups demonstration Center in 2025 farming seasons.

Speaking, Coordinator Farmers Helping Hand, Orlu Zone, Comrade Alex Onyeka Duru, said that, the group has Procured the land in the center of Njaba LGA Imo State to use as a demonstrations and teaching farm to both the members and the general public in order to ensure adequate food productions, supply’s and support in Imo State.

Comrade Duru, pointed out that, the gathering was to celebrate with the members for the successful end of the harvest of 2024 farming seasons and to restored the purpose of farming as a panacea for food Security, good health and to felicitate with the government of Senator Hope Uzodimma for his good work in the State and effective support to the Association, mostly to revamp the sector.

He expressed confidence in the support trust and patronage so far received from the notable Imo State government officials and individual including the Commissioner for Agriculture Chief Cosmos Nwabueze Maduba, Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi (Etiokwe Farmers), Executive Chairman Njaba LGA, HRH Eze Anthony Onyeka, Patron of the group in Orlu Zone as well as Dr. Jude Aneakor, DG Imo Promotion Agency, Mrs Adaeze Nwaka, Adviser To the Governor Imo State, Prof. Kenneth Amaechi SA to the governor, Eze Peter Ukaonu, Eze Donatus Agukwe and many others.

Comrade Duru recalled that the group has done much to boost food Security in the State and pointed out that the 2025 farming season will be different with a great impacts and inputs to place the state revenue back on Agriculture production sustainability and advancement like Malaysia that received palm seedlings from Nigeria and now highest producers of Palm products in the world and Ukraine irrespective of ravaging wars feed Nigeria with grains.

While encouraging all the People of Orlu Zone to make Farming their major resources as it was in the olden days when average Man will be boosting of his Yam Barn, Goat and poultry Houses as well as utilize the opportunity to cultivate crops not proper available in the State like Carrots, Cucumber, Onions and syrups.

In his Commendations, Chief Anthony Offor, who was the Chairman of the occasion, said that, he was overwhelmed with the teeming number of registered look farmers mainly youths and women as a testament that Imo State is getting the reorientation techniques well as such strength will definitely add value to the increase food productions and economic emancipation to the people.

According to him, the next end of the year gets together will be celebrated with the proceeds from the farmers and encouraged them to make good use of the opportunity and called on the government of Senator Hope Uzodimma to make Agriculture incentives and inputs earlier available to help these farmers to ensure smooth 2025 farming season. “food production is number one top security priority as for the youth while in the farms will reduce the high level of insecurity and criminality”. So the need to get them to farm is the target objective of the Association in the State” .

Members of the Group from the entire Local Government Areas in Orlu Zone witnessed the event at the Central School Main Hall Okwudor Autonomous Community, Njaba LGA, last Saturday, 11 January, 2025. Including Oru East LGA Coordinator. Rev. Dr. Favour Amarachukwu and his Execos, others are Chief Anselem Njika, Mrs Juliet Anyanwu, Manager Bank of Agriculture, Orlu Zone and many others.
