It was a show of shame and direct attacks on the Nigerian Students as Imo State Students Group under the aegis of National Association of Nigeria Students NANS, Imo Chapter has raised fresh alarm over threats to their life’s by the aggressive nature of the
Special Assistant, (SA) to the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma on Youth Mobilization. Mr Eric Uwakwe and his colleague in the Student Affairs, One Franklin Okparaji, allegedly Joining hands to assault them by beating up the students mercilessly after observing the students romance and good working relationships with the Imo State Commissioner for Youth and Talent Hunt, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu recently.
In a press release from the students body signed by the National Director Gender and Vulnerable Students, Miss Chizzy Gloria Uwakwe, accused the duos of Truncating the peaceful co-existence between the governor and the students as she explained that, Hon. Eric Uwakwe ( SA Youth Mobilization) on his unwarranted, unprovoked attacks on the leadership of Imo student community an orchestrated attempts to destroy and tarnish the students images and disfigured their physical appearance and education over his selfishness aggressions and acrimony to muscle down the Commissioner on the detriments of the Students.
According to her, “we held a meeting at Rockview Hotel on 29/9/2024, over the independent day celebration invitations by the Commissioner for Youth and Talent Hunt, which was extended to us.
Since after the 2024 October 1st Independent day celebration , Hon Eric Uwakwe and Hon Franklin had been on ceaseless attacks on all of us that availed ourselves the opportunity for the outings. Is it a bad thing to answer the commissioner? Was the commissioner not working for the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma?. what is our crime?
We equally gathered ,that, Hon Eric Uwakwe and his cohort, have falsely accused us of telling the Director, DSS that we will carry out a protest if His Excellency didn’t appoint one of us S.A NANS affairs or S.A student engagements as it’s only their imaginations and falsehood.
Earlier, according to them, “His Excellency, Gov Hope Uzodimma has directed them ( Eric and Franklin) never to allow some of us to get any other position in NANS”
” Yesterday night after drinking with his friends at, De Avenue Ikenegbu Owerri Imo State, Hon Eric Uwakwe beating up mercilessly Imo State SUG presidents that came to meet us on the Girl Child Education Program we planning to do in all the campuses in the State and also to discuss the birthday of one of our colleague’s”.
Hon Eric Uwakwe started by asking the SUG presidents why they didn’t join him and Hon Franklin Oparaji to the meeting with Director, DSS as instructed by the Governor. While the SUG presidents were explaining to him, Hon Eric slapped Destiny Anyanwu, ( K. O Mbadiwe, SUG president), and punched Stanley ( SUG president FUTO) on his face and started video recording them and shouting that they’re planning a protest against the government.
All these and more of their (Hon Eric Uwakwe and Hon Franklin Oparaji) confrontations are before the Imo police command and Director, DSS.
Pls sir, I call on you to save our souls. These harassment, intimidations and assaults are becoming so unbearable to us. Help us plead with Hon Eric and Hon Franklin to resolve whatever problem they have with Mandela ( Hon commissioner for Youth and Talent Hunt) and leave us to concentrate on our education as we are not politicians.
We love Gov Hope Uzodinma, we worked for him during the last election and the Governor still enjoys the unparalleled supports as we the genuine student community of Imo state.
