Evangelist Cannice Okoronkwo has called on the people of Isiala Mbano mostly Ugiri clan and the State government to come and check the prevalent gully erosion at the popular Nkwombaa.
The called was made on the need to Rehabilitate and work on the gully erosion site which has remained horrible and a dead traps in the Area.
In his SOS letter to the people of the community and the State government, Evang. Okoronkwo made it clear that if the government refused to come to the rescue that the people should not remained silent in the midst of the challenges but to come up with a solution to stop the gully erosion from further landslide encroachment.
In his words “This is the most touching call from a concerned citizen, writing for the rehabilitation of Nkwombaa gully erosion, “But l want to say despite several calls from many concerned citizens of Isiala Mbano and beyond, can’t we the people of these area proffer practical solution, even in temporary situation”. “They say charity begins at home”. ‘Ugiri clan alone has many autonomous communities within ugiri, “Not to talk of other communities of lsiala mbano and Ehime Mbano who ply the road on a daily basis, “We have many wealthy or people who claim to be wealthy”. Can’t we gather ourselves together, in the spirit of love, unity and oneness to raise fund to tackle this ugly erosion, now that it can be checkmated. Can’t sands or hard cores be brought to fill the affected area before it goes out of proportion? Outside govt, can’t the end users come together to do something, the tiper owners, and sand excavators, the traditional rulers, pgs can’t they come together for this purpose. Is it that ugiri clan, lsiala mbano, “Ehime Mbano haven’t gotten people of rich and benevolent heart? People with the love of their people, who can sacrifice something for the purpose of saving lives”. Where are those who claimed they own ugiri or Nkwombaa, who had the effontry to cut the government planted trees to curb erosion. Where is the money they raised from the sale of those trees which runs into millions, knowing it was the result of their actions that we all are crying or suffering today. Are we waiting to see or hear that lives have been lost before we can rally round and do something? Where is the LGA caretaker chairman, the commissioners and govt officials of lsiala mbano and Ehime Mbano extraction. The Nkwombaa gully erosion is big trap that we don’t know who will be a victim someday. Let’s not wait for that day to come. I know Ugiri clan , nee lsiala mbano and Ehime Mbano etc nwere madu. Let’s rise and do something to save life. While wailing and waiting for loquacious and inactive government and it’s agencies , my people let’s rise and do something. Very soon the APC will soon come again using the gully erosion site as campaign strategy to ask for votes as they did before. A sticth in time saves nine. “Penny wu ego” Let the Eze’s rise, let big’s rise, let both the rich , poor rise.
