A political pressure group under the aegis of Owerri Zone People’s Mandate (OZOPEM) has spring up to be the mouth piece of the Zone to get the people desired Imo State governorship position in 2027.
Speaking the Convener, Prof. Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe, said that, the group will be the force to cement good relationships with other zones to ensure synergy and partnership to realize the ambition of making an Owerri person the governor of Imo State in 2027.
After the harmonization and nominations, Capt David Mbamara (Rtd) emerged the First Chairman of Owerri People’s Mandate and, Hon. Prince Arnold Nelson, former Transition Committee Chairman Owerri West as the Secretary
In a communique the leadership of Owerri People’s Mandate said that the membership are from the 104 wards in the Nine local Government Area of Imo State with the objectives to aggregate, articulate and further the interest of Owerri zone towards producing the Successor to the sitting governor Senator Hope Uzodimma in 2027.
The Resolutions are, as follows,
To communicate as soon as possible to those championing the cause of Okigwe Zone, particularly the Okigwe Global Elders Forum
To initiate discussions and understanding with the sister Zones of Okigwe and Orlu on the need for their support for Owerri zone person to become the governor in 2027.
To write to the people of Ohaji Egbema political bloc of Orlu Zone commending them on their decisions to remain in Imo State following the agitation by some well meaning Orlu Sons in the National Assembly for the creations of Orlu State.
To write a letter of Commendations to the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma on his good works he is doing in Imo State and for Imo State.
Responding, Captain David Mbamara (Rtd), said that, he is overwhelmed by his nominations as Chairman of the laudable group and Commended the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for his resolution to make an Owerri person governor after his tenure.
Chief Mbamara, made it clear that, he is not running for governorship election in 2027 as he has tried twice in the past and faild according to him the group are made up of people of impeccable characters coming to team up to put Owerri in a proper position to take the State government seat in 2027.
“We are going to make sure that our Owerri people didn’t lose again,
“No sentiments or emotional in the struggle, we wouldn’t mind what was said we going to struggle to handle it well”
“We are not here for Ohakim. He is the only person that can stand only for four years”.” I formed OZOPOF in 2014 at Ogwa in the house of Barr. Kingsley Onunuju, and made, Chief Charles Amadi the Chairman”. I have equally declared it dead”
“I’m not running for any governorship election in 2027 so we are here to serve our people to make sure that an Owerri person is next governor after Senator Hope Uzodimma in 2027.
“Let’s be patriotic as a group that will synergize and meet our people from other zones to galvanize support for Owerri zone”
“We will make the Association stronger firm not only in Owerri zone but also in all the 305 ward of Imo State”.
“The time for OZOPOZLF business has gone. We will reach out to all the groups.
