Airtel’s 5G Network project: Imo State Commissioner Amadi, Visits Site, Promises State Collaboration To Realize Standard & Effective Network System

The Imo State Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, has made unscheduled visits to the major sites of the Airtel’s 5G Network project in the State to ensure that the ongoing work is completed without any hinderence to actualize the, Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma’s vision to digitalize the State in his tenure.

Dr Amadi, who earlier, expressed confidence with the level of work done so far and encouraged the workers of the Africa Network Giants Airtel’s to keep it up and reassured them of Imo State government collaboration to Airtel and continues support for its 5G project completion.

The Commissioner, maintained that the Ministry for Digital Economy and E-Government under himself, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, and his team Chijioke Odimegwu, Gabriel Mbachu, John Oparaeje and Bright Chizoba, already visited two pivotal base stations: IM0050 (ATC) and IM0633 (IHS) located at Ihechiowa Street and Aladinma in Owerri Imo State respectively.

The supervision team’s presence has highlighted the project’s importance to the State by going to the project site is a testament aimed to enhance strong digital infrastructure and provide affordable digital connectivity and expressed confidence in the capacity of Airtel’s Telco.

The Project Manager, Engr. Kingsley Omonigho, who expressed satisfactions with the progress of work and lauded the team’s hard work and professionalism, emphasising the critical role such projects will play in making digital connectivity available, accessible and affordable for the people.

He pointed out that the visit Commissioner and his team underscores the administrative commitment of Governor Hope Uzodimma to expand digital access and improve the state’s technological landscape and promise to deliver as at when due.

Meanwhile, the Airtel project, which includes the development of robust base stations, is expected to significantly improve Imo State economic base after enhancing network coverage and reliability, and on completion deliver 5G broadband Internet services to 15 communities across Owerri Municipal, Owerri West and Owerri North local government areas, thereby fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for the residents.
