EZEJI APPRECIATE’S UZODIMMA AS CHIEF VITALIS OBI ETIOKWE HANDS OVER THE LEADERSHIP OF NJABA LGA TO DAS.
Your Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Executive Governor of Imo State,
Yesterday, Monday, October 5, 2026, as Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe, the Executive Chairman of Njaba Local Government Area, formally hands over the affairs of the council after two years in office, it is important to acknowledge the role your administration played in creating the environment and opportunity that enabled his administration to serve the people of Njaba.
Your Excellency, leadership at the grassroots is not possible without an enabling environment. The people of Njaba therefore appreciate you for the confidence, opportunity and support extended to Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe to serve.
In the last two years, his administration has been visibly associated with developments in infrastructure, security, empowerment and the renewed visibility of Njaba. His efforts to improve the council headquarters, strengthen security and position Njaba more prominently on the global map through technology have been publicly acknowledged by community leaders and residents.
Beyond physical projects, however, one of the things many people will remember is his leadership style. His simplicity, humility, respect for people and openness created a sense of accessibility that brought many citizens closer to the local government.
Yesterday, at the Njaba Local Government Headquarters, Nnenasa, the emotion of the people was unmistakable as men, women, youths and children gathered to witness the handover. Many expressed their appreciation for what they described as an administration whose impact they had personally experienced.
For many of those who spoke, the end of the two-year tenure was not simply a political transition. It was an emotional moment because they felt they were saying goodbye to a leader they had become accustomed to seeing and relating with.
Your Excellency, one message that resonated strongly from the people was a request for Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe to return and continue his service to Njaba if the political and electoral process provides that opportunity.
Whether that request ultimately becomes part of the future political process is for the people, the relevant institutions and the electorate to determine. But the fact that such a request is being openly expressed is itself a reflection of the relationship that developed between the chairman and many residents during his tenure.
Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe’s tenure has also coincided with renewed public discussion about Njaba’s development, peace, infrastructure and visibility. Earlier in 2026, community and political leaders publicly commended his administration over infrastructure and security-related developments in the LGA.
Your Excellency, we therefore say thank you for giving a son of Njaba the opportunity to serve.
Thank you for creating the political and administrative environment in which grassroots leadership can take place.
As Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe hands over today, we celebrate not merely the completion of a tenure, but the experiences, projects, relationships and memories created during these two years.
To Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe, Omere Njaba, Njaba Juo Oyi, the people have spoken through their appreciation. Whatever the future holds, the footprints of your tenure have become part of the story of Njaba.
And to Your Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, we appreciate your continued commitment to grassroots development and your administration’s emphasis on infrastructure, security, technology and development across Imo State.
May God continue to grant you wisdom, strength and good health as you continue to serve the people of Imo State.
Long live His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON.
Long live Chief Vitalis Obi Etiokwe, Omere Njaba, Njaba Juo Oyi.
Long live Njaba Local Government Area.
Long live Imo State.
