The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Owerri Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, High Chief Okechukwu Amadi, popularly known as “Okey Is Okay,” has unveiled his development agenda, positioning himself as a credible alternative for effective representation of the constituency at the National Assembly.
Amadi presented his vision during a stakeholders’ consultation meeting held at the palace of his Bizieobi 11 , the publishers of National Sports Links Newspaper Online, at Umuakali Naze in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.
The meeting attracted community leaders, traditional heads, women groups, youth organizations, political stakeholders, and residents from across the constituency.
Speaking at the gathering, the ADC flagbearer said the people of Owerri Federal Constituency have consistently yearned for purposeful leadership capable of addressing longstanding developmental challenges and delivering the dividends of democracy.
He emphasized the need for quality representation that would attract federal projects, create employment opportunities, empower youths, and improve the socio-economic wellbeing of constituents.
According to him, the constituency deserves a representative who understands the needs of the people and is prepared to champion policies and programmes that directly impact their lives.
“The people of Owerri Federal Constituency deserve effective representation that prioritizes their welfare, promotes development, and creates opportunities for the younger generation. My aspiration is driven by the desire to serve and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our communities,” he stated.
Amadi identified youth empowerment and educational development as key pillars of his proposed legislative agenda, noting that investment in education, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship remains critical to addressing unemployment and reducing poverty.
The business mogul and proprietor of a multi-million-naira bakery enterprise in Owerri said he has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to youth development through various empowerment initiatives and support programmes for vulnerable members of society and founded a foundation as a caretaker.
He pledged to use his experience in business and community service to attract development projects and create sustainable opportunities for the people of the constituency.
Confident in his record of philanthropy and community engagement, Amadi challenged members of the public and the media to independently verify his contributions to society, maintaining that his achievements speak for themselves.
Investigations revealed that the philanthropist has undertaken several community-based projects over the years, including security enhancement initiatives involving the deployment of drone technology to support local surveillance and crime prevention efforts.
He also disclosed that his foundation has been sponsoring scholarships for indigent students since 2011, with funding provided through his personal resources and charitable interventions aimed at promoting educational advancement.
The event also witnessed the participation of members of the Hausa community residing within the constituency, led by Malam Shakaru Umar, the Sarkin Noma (Leader of Farmers).
In his remarks, Malam Umar, popularly known as “Waziri,” described High Chief Amadi as a dependable, responsible, and visionary leader with the capacity and integrity required to provide quality representation for the people.
He urged the ADC candidate to remain committed to promoting national unity, peaceful coexistence, and inclusive development among the diverse ethnic groups living within the constituency.
Political observers believe that Amadi’s expanding grassroots consultations and development-focused campaign message could significantly influence political discourse ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections in Owerri Federal Constituency.
Many stakeholders at the meeting expressed optimism that sustained engagement with communities and a clear development agenda would contribute positively to the emerging political landscape in the constituency.
