Imo Agog as Celebrated Police Operative Weds Sister of Super Eagles Star in Grand Ceremony.

The Ohaji/Egbema area of Imo State came alive with excitement on Saturday, June 20, 2026, as Inspector Chika Okebata of the Violence Crime Response Unit, (VCRU), Imo State Police Command, exchanged marital vows with his heartthrob, the sister of Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, in a colourful and well-attended traditional marriage ceremony.

The event, which attracted dignitaries from the security Unit, political class, sports personalities, media, and business communities, was held at Central School, Umunwuaku, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, The venue was transformed into a vibrant display of culture, music, and tradition, reflecting the rich heritage of the Igbo people.

Inspector Okebata, widely known among colleagues and admirers for his commitment to combating violent crime, appeared in elegant traditional attire as he celebrated the memorable occasion with family, friends, and well-wishers.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the traditional wine-carrying rite (Igba Nkwu), during which the bride gracefully made her way through the crowd to present the ceremonial cup to her intending husband, drawing cheers and applause from guests while cultural dance groups entertained the gathering.

The ceremony attracted an impressive array of distinguished guests. Leading the security delegation was the Commander of the newly formed Violence Crime Response Unit, (VCRU) Imo State Police Command, ACP Oladimeji Odeyeye, accompanied by senior officers of the Command, who turned out to honour one of their respected colleague and crime buster

The sports community was equally represented by some notable Super Eagles strikers including “Senior Man” Kelechi Iheanacho who joined members of his immediate family to celebrate the union and his fellow Super Eagles team winger and AC Milan star, Samuel Chukwueze and many other football enthusiasts and admirers who came to witness.

Representing the political class are Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, member representing Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He led a delegation of political stakeholders and community leaders to felicitate with the newlyweds. Including Hon. Gilbert Nwosu member for Oguta State Constituency in Imo state House of Assembly, Hon. Marcel Amadioha Ohaji/Egbema LGA Chairman, Former ENTRACO GM, Hon Jeff Nwoha, Hon. Gideon Meffor, Ada palm Representative to the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma and many others.

Speaking during the celebration, Hon. Dibiagwu described the duo’s marriage as a testament to the enduring values of love, unity, and family upbringing anchored on God.

“This union is a beautiful reminder that beyond their demanding responsibilities, our law enforcement officers remain committed to building strong families and contributing positively to society,” he said.

The festivities continued into the evening with a grand reception featuring an array of local and continental delicacies, live entertainment, and cultural performances that kept guests entertained throughout the celebration.

As Inspector Chika Okebata and his bride begin their journey together as husband and wife, the event is expected to be remembered as one of the most colourful and high-profile social gatherings witnessed in Umunwuaku Ohaji Egbema Imo State in recent times, bringing together notable personalities from diverse sectors in a remarkable celebration of love and unity.
Many friends of both families witnessed the traditional marriage and described same as the best gathering of the year.
