ETIOKWE NJABA BAGS TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS IN ONE DAY
Most Workers-Friendly Chairman in Orlu Zone, Impactful Contributions to Educational Development

The Executive Chairman of Njaba Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi (Etiokwe Njaba), has recorded another milestone as he received two major awards on the same day, as a positive contributions of his effective and people-oriented leadership in Njaba and Orlu Zone respectively.
The honours come shortly after a grand reception held in his honour, where he was widely celebrated for his humility, dedication, and service to the people.
At one of the events, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Imo State Chapter, led by Comrade Uche Chigaemezu Nwigwe, conferred on him the award of the Best Worker-Friendly Executive Chairman in Orlu Zone. He emerged top among the 12 local government chairmen in the zone, in recognition of his outstanding relationship with workers, humane leadership style, and commitment to their welfare.
The NLC noted that beyond executing quality infrastructural projects, the Chairman has maintained a cordial and productive relationship with the workforce. The selection process, which covered all three senatorial zones of the state, involved both physical project assessments and direct feedback from workers.
Meanwhile in a separate recognition, the Imo State School-Based Management Board honoured Hon. Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi (Etiokwe) with an award for his Significant Impact in Education Development. The Board highlighted his achievements, including the recovery of encroached school lands, sponsorship of JAMB UTME registrations for Njaba students, and facilitation of admissions for hundreds of candidates, among other interventions in the education sector.
Receiving the awards on his behalf, the Super Special Adviser to the Chairman, Amb. Anthony Akalugo, expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the Chairman’s efforts. He attributed the achievements to the administration’s people-focused SHE-WARI agenda, which he said is driving inclusive governance and repositioning Njaba among leading local government areas.
He further assured that the Chairman remains committed to delivering more dividends of democracy, noting that his governance style aligns with the 3R Shared Prosperity agenda of the Imo State Government.
Chief Obi’s growing list of accolades continues to reflect his performance in office, reinforcing public perception of him as a transformational leader dedicated to improving lives and advancing development in Njaba.
Observers say his leadership has not only brought recognition to the area but has also set a benchmark for grassroots governance in the state.
