Njaba Vigilantes Record Major Breakthrough Against Crime, Neutralizes Kidnappers, Rescue Victim, Recovers Vehicle

Members of the Imo State Vigilante Services Organisation (IMVSO), Njaba Local Government Area (LGA) unit, have recorded a significant breakthrough in the fight against criminal activities in the area.
The Chief Vigilante Officer of Njaba LGA, Mr. Chibuike Duru, popularly known as Nwamgbenta, disclosed this while briefing newsmen. He stated that the unit has not only rescued kidnapped victims but also recovered stolen vehicles and neutralised several suspected criminals believed to be linked to outlawed groups as the most recent one happened on the 14 April 2026.
According to him, the unit recently received intelligence on the activities of suspected hoodlums operating within the Njaba community. Their swift intervention led to the rescue of a kidnapped victim, the recovery of his Lexus RX 330 vehicle after a fierce battle resulted in the neutralization of about seven suspected criminals, reportedly youths under the age of 30. He noted that the suspects were allegedly responsible for making parts of the rural community unsafe for residents expressing confidence in his men for the bold efforts.
Nwamgbenta reiterated the commitment of the Njaba vigilante unit to sustaining its operations against criminal elements, stressing that officers remain resolute and undeterred in restoring peace and security in the area.
He added that the unit is closely monitoring emerging security threats and evolving tactics used by criminal groups, while also calling on vigilante groups in neighbouring Oru East and Orlu LGAs to remain vigilant.
He emphasised that continuous and coordinated efforts are essential in the fight against insecurity, pledging that his team would not relent.
He also expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Njaba LGA, Chief Vitalis Ugochukwu Obi, Etiokwe (Omere Njaba juo oyi) for his support and contributions towards strengthening the vigilante outfit in the area.
The vigilante commander further commended the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for establishing the state security outfit and appealed for increased government support, including regular funding, improved welfare, and provision of necessary operational equipment to sustain the fight against crime.
He concluded by advising youths involved in criminal activities to abandon such acts and embrace lawful means of livelihood, noting that only those who choose a better path can look forward to a secure future.
