It was a moment of cultural reawakening and historical preservation as renowned political and community leader, Chief (Sir) Barr. Reuben Ajurumonye Okoro (Ahaejiagamba of Atta Ancient Kingdom), officially presented his new book titled “The Historical Foundation of Atta–Nwambiri: Reflections About the Author.”

The book, a compendium of the historical evolution, cultural heritage and socio-political development of the Atta–Nwambiri people, was launched in Owerri, Imo State, at Rockview Hotel on you November 28, 2025, coinciding with Chief Okoro’s 81st birthday celebration.

Reviewing the book, Eminent Scholar Faculty of Law Imo State University, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri, praised the author for documenting the history and identity of his people.
According to him, “The best remembrance of life is to leave behind a written work.” He commended Chief Okoro for producing a well-researched historical guide written in simple, accessible English to aid students, researchers and members of the community.

Chairman of the occasion and Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Imo State Chapter, Nze Barr. Chris Obialor, described the publication as “a cultural reawakening and a major achievement in sustaining the Atta–Nwambiri heritage.”

He extolled Chief Okoro as a distinguished son of Nkwerre and a home-grown leader who has contributed immensely to community development, including his pioneering role in Orluzurumee, an affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

The traditional ruler of Umunam Atta, HRH Eze Valentine Uche Nwaka (Igwe Nweremadu), attributed much of the progress and unity in the Atta–Nwambiri Kingdom to Chief Okoro’s leadership.
He noted that the octogenarian was instrumental in securing three electoral wards, for the kingdom—an achievement that significantly boosted its political influence. Yes I was made the traditional ruler because of Dee Okoro who stood for truth.

Also speaking, Chief John Agbasi Omeziribe, praised Chief Okoro for his unwavering commitment to the development of Atta Ancient Kingdom in Njaba LGA.

“I have no regrets celebrating Dee Reuben Okoro. He is the Ahaejiagamba of Atta, our pioneer political leader and the first true political go-getter our community ever produced,”* he said.
He prayed for God’s continued protection and strength for the celebrant.

Engineer Ikenna Power Okoro, a political figure in Njaba LGA and son of the author, expressed gratitude on behalf of the family, noting that the book launch and birthday celebration highlight his father’s lifelong dedication to community service and cultural preservation.

In his remarks, Chief (Sir) Barr. Reuben Ajurumonye Okoro, said he was overwhelmed by the love shown to him.
He explained that the book was written to meet the constant demand from students and scholars seeking reliable information on the historical background of Atta–Nwambiri.

“I have done the people’s wish. It is now easier for anyone to consult a comprehensive source on our origins. Preserving our culture is important, especially because the traditions of Nnenassa, in the Isu Clan share close links with ours as a people, he noted.
He expressed profound gratitude to all who honoured the event.

The ceremony attracted numerous dignitaries from Atta Ancient Kingdom and beyond, including Prof. Uba Nnabue Federal Commissioner National Population Commission, Chief Izunna Osuji, All Traditional Rulers In Atta Ancient kingdom, Eze Anthony Onyeka of Nkume, Autonomous Community and Chairman Njaba Council of Traditional Rulers, and many others.
