Onuimo Chairperson joins Gov Uzodimma’s wife , Organizes Seminar Against Female Genitals Mutilation.

A one day Awareness seminar aimed at domesticating the campaign against female genital Mutilation ( FGM) , the Pet project programs of Imo first Lady , Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodinma has kicked off at Okwe, Onuimo local government Area by Mrs Rophina Ngozi Obi ,wife of the Local government Council Chairman.
Her excellency, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma represented by the Special Adviser (SA ) Women Mobilization to Distn. Senator Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Mrs Stella Emeziem in her address disclosed that the sensitization against female genital Mutilation (FGM) is a harmful and discretionary practice all over the world with over twelve thousand cases carried out every day while United Nations has proposed agenda for the total elimination of such evil practices .
Consequent upon the exposition by United Nations, the Imo State First Lady, Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma expressly cued in to ensure that the obnoxious acts is completely eradicated.
The SA Women Mobilization Hon. Mrs Stella Emeziem, wife of the former Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Chief Paul Emeziem extolled the Onuimo Chairperson and the husband, Dr Emeka Obi for doing great jobs inline with the governor Uzodimma’s reform -agenda in the entire Onuimo Local Government Area of Imo State.
She expressed delights and confidence in the genuine leadership of the Executive Chairman ,Onuimo Local Government Area as she urged the people of Onuimo, especially Traditional Rulers, President Generals, Women leaderships and the female Students in the Council to take home the Campaign against female genital mutilation to their various Autonomous Communities.

Chairperson Hon Mrs Ngozi Rophina Obiefuna thanked the State governor’s wife and her team for the introduction of the life saving programs as Female Genitals Mutilation FGM is one of the efforts to save women and girl -child from unbearable and obnoxious harms.
Lady Ngozi Rophina expressed appreciations and delightful with the guest Speaker Dr. Mrs Ngozi Onyeanula, of Alvan Ikuko University of Education Owerri Imo State who thrilled the audience with sintilating lectures against the harmful traditional practice of female genital mutilations.
In her lecture titled ,
“Female Genital Mutilation ( FGM ) she gave myriads of reasons why this ugly entrenched cultural practices , that has affected countless girls and women across Nigeria mostly the South East, Imo State in particular must be resented .
” FGM is a violation of human rights, a source of physical and emotional trauma and a barrier to the full health and dignity of the girls child involving the cutting or removal of external female genitals”. Dr. Mrs Ngozi Onyeanula
commending Mrs Ngozi Rophina Obi for carrying down this all important Programme, Barr. Mrs Uzodinma initiated to real rural dwellers in Onuimo She thanked her for letting the people of Onuimo Local Government Area to know the truth and pleaded with them to drive the message further to homes.
Earlier, the executive Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Area, Hon Dr. Emeka Obi while declaring the event open expressed appreciations with the large crowd that came to the Programme .
He urged them to take the message home while thanking the wife of the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma on her empathy for vulnerable females in Imo Communities. He described the projects as being impactful and giant dividend to the State.
The Youthful grassroot Onuimo Council Chairman explained that the Female Genital Mutilation Seminar is a fight against the evil practices on the girls child which demands be urgent attention to abdicate in the Councils through special advocacy, monitoring and good health care as the Council is out to provide sound health care delivery system.
HRH EZE C. N. Eze , traditional Ruler of Okpuala -Aboh Umuduru -egbeaguru who also is the Chairman Council of Ndieze Onuimo Local govt Area commended Mrs Rophina Obi for her magnanimity and passion to Onuimo people and urged the people to imbibe in the new order as FGM has done more harm than good.
The young mothers female Students of various secondary schools in Onuimo Local Government Area accepted to take the message home and to avoid the issue of female Genitals Mutilation FGM as up coming mother’s.
