CRIME:IPOB ALLEGEDLY EXPOSES MKPURU MIRI (CRYSTAL METH) PRODUCER’S, DISTRIBUTORS IN SOUTH EAST NIGERIA
…FINGERS IMO COMMUNITY .
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has allegedly exposed bad spots and vowed to identify and take drastic action against the producers and distributors of Crystal Meth, also known as Mkpuru Mmiri, within the Southeast region of Nigeria.
IPOB expressed its strong disapproval of the production and distribution of the harmful drug, particularly in Umuaka, located in Orlu Province, Imo State.
According to the group, its intelligence unit has uncovered approximately 10 factories involved in the production of this dangerous substance in the area.
Emma Powerful, the spokesperson for IPOB, made the disclosure and thereafter issued a statement highlighting the severity of the issue.
He pointed out that these factories were set up by six purported individuals from the said community who had returned from South Africa, seeking to extend their drug operations to Igbo land.
He further claimed that these dealers operate out of certain hotels and nightclubs in Owerri, distributing their illicit products to other parts of Nigeria, including Lagos, Kano, Rivers State, Abuja, and beyond.
Emma Powerful, further stressed that the violent crimes occurring in Orlu are unrelated to the legitimate struggle for an independent Biafra.
He accused some drug-dealing criminals of falsely associating themselves with the Biafran cause, while they are, in reality, engaged in the illegal drug trade.
IPOB also alleged that the Nigerian and Imo State governments, along with their security agencies, are complicit in these operations, either by directly benefiting from the proceeds or by providing cover for the dealers.
IPOB warned those involved in the production and distribution of Mkpuru Mmiri to cease their activities immediately, stating that the group has identified those responsible. If they fail to stop, IPOB threatens to expose their identities publicly and take decisive action to shut down their operations.
In the statement, IPOB reiterated its call for the return of legitimate businesses and investments to the region, rejecting any form of criminality and destructive activities like the production of Crystal Meth.
