Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has allegedly taken the LGA Chairmanship and Councilors Aspirants Consensus Primary election to Abuja, disappointing the APC’s purported Apex Leaders.
Reports indicate that the primary election was cancelled, and Uzodimma opted for consensus, hand-picking candidates without input from the Apex Leaders, causing disaffection among party faithful
The governor’s preference for consensus over direct or indirect primaries is rooted in the APC’s constitution, which allows for three methods of producing candidates.
However, the secrecy surrounding the consensus process has sparked criticism, with some aspirants and sponsors feeling marginalized and deceived.

Alleged Swindling, The governor and APC Chairman, Dr MacDonald Ebere, was accused of collecting billions of naira from aspirants, only to unilaterally select candidates.
Reactions trails the accountability, transparency and the rational behind the exercise as the defranchised Aspirants are awaiting for the release of the authentic list of the selected candidates, with some allegedly preparing for a fight against the perceived flawed primary election.
Some Party leaders claim they were unaware of the consensus exercise and are waiting to see the list.
The situation highlights tensions within the Imo State APC ahead of the September 21, 2024, Local Government Area Chairmanship and Councilors election.
