Owerri Municipal Markets is Peaceful, Leaderships are Intact Not In Contentions… Elder Benedict Iwunze.

The leadership of all the major Markets in Owerri Municipal Council is peaceful and intact not in any Contentions to attract a recent media destructions and civil unrest in order to disrupt the peaceful coexistence between the Traders and Governor in his good governance initiatives too numerous to mention.

Speaking against the back drops of an orchestrated media hype to cause disaffection and cohesion among the Traders by a faceless social media online outfit with heading ” Traders Urge Gov. Uzodimma to mandate Fresh elections at World bank, Relief, Nworie Lane Main Markets Amidst Prolonged Tenure related Issues”

This is a hatchet publications against the peace and stability existing in all the markets in the Municipal Council as the Commissioner For Commerce Trade and Investment. Barr. Rex Anunobi (Sokom) has rested all the issues of the Markets leadership in the Municipal Council and the state in general.

Elder Benedict Iwunze, Chairman Nworie Lane Industrial Market Owerri Municipal Council, explained, that such a publications is coming from a none traders as the Traders in the major Markets in the Municipal Council are enjoying the peaceful coexistence between the leadership and the Traders.

He pointed out that, the write-up is just the imaginations of the writers and their paid agent’s to dish out lies to the public by erroneously misplacement of priorities from the disgruntled elements not Traders to cause disaffection and cohesion among the Traders.

According to him, the false publications with the extracted gibberish,
“Prolonged or mismanaged leadership can breed discontent, insecurity, and inefficiency, especially when positions that are meant to be temporary become entrenched for years”.

“In 2021 (2022), Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Shared Prosperity Administration, through the now-dissolved ISAMATA under the Imo Ministry of Commerce, appointed market leaders for various markets across Imo State”

“These appointments were intended to last for only three months.

However, many of these appointees have remained in their positions for over four years, far exceeding the initial timeframe.

This extended tenureship has led to issues such as impunity, high-handedness, and underdevelopment within the affected markets.

The affected markets include Eke-Ukwu Owerri Main Market, Relief Market Owerri, World Bank Market Owerri, as well as others in Owerri, Orlu, and Okigwe regions”.

Elder Benedict Iwunze, Chairman Nworie Lane Industrial Market Owerri, said that, it’s only the imaginations of the writers with the paid agent’s to dish out lies to confuse the public and distract the government as the Traders are currently enjoying the peaceful coexistence between the Markets leadership and the Traders as the national economy is biting harder on everyone with hike cost of goods and services which is not the making of Imo State government or Market leadership.

He maintained that, the State is currently in elections mood for the Local Government Area Chairmanship and Ward Councilors and not Market leadership as perceived by the false publications.

According to him it’s a blatant lies, falsehood that, the leadership of the Owerri Municipal Markets are being appointed by ISAMATA, as the history of Markets leadership in the Municipal Council is an age long one and it’s only for the Traders in those respective markets that are legible and empowered to elect or appoints their Leadership for peaceful coexistence s.

He called on the public and the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investment, Barr Rex Anunobi (Sokom) to disregards the negative and falsehood publications as it’s not connected or coming from any member of the Mentioned markets in Owerri Municipal Council.
