Members of Petroleum Marketers Association under the aegis of Concerned Marketers, Suppliers and Dealers of Petroleum Products, Imo State, has raised fresh alarm on the continuous extortions, intimidations and harassment of members by thugs working for the interest of the purported fake leadership of Aba Depot’s Independent Petroleum Marketers Association IPMAN under Oliver Okolo and his partners.
Speaking Comrade Uche Ajala (Switch Oil and Gas) said that it’s worrisome to note that, the alleged fake Aba Depot’s Leadership of IPMAN irrespective of warnings and public outburst has continued to extort their members in Imo and Abia State in a provocative ways that may likely lead to physical assault and attacks as a result of what he described as a sabotage and multiple taxations causing unnecessary increases in the hike cost of the Petroleum products drawing threats and economic meltdown to the masses.
Comrade Uche Ajala Switch (Oil and Gas) condemned outrightly the silence and lackadaisical attitudes of the governors of both Imo and Abia State to allow such evil to be perpetrated in their States.
He maintained that some Federal Agencies were served with the complaints letters to help them to stop the nefarious activity of the disgruntled elements and expressed sadness on their refusals to call the alleged fake leadership of Aba Depot’s IPMAN leadership by one Oliver Okolo to order and also to forced them to return back to those tankers and petroleum products owners they have extorted millions of naira over Six months ago their money.
Recalling with nostalgia, Comrade Ajala,said that a letter of complaints collectively signed by over 38 Members of their group and addressed and circulated to Imo State governor Senator Hope Uzodimma (Onwa Oyoko) through the office of the Chief of Staff Government House, Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie, calling for his interventions in the illegal Collections, extortions, Harassment and intimidations of Petroleum Products Marketers, Suppliers and Dealers bringing products into Imo State.
He pointed out that, such actions is a neglect and sabotages to the governor and the government of Imo State as it will worsen the economic challenges and hardship as Marketers will probably and illegally increase the cost of the products in the State.
Same letters according to him, was copied to other relevant authorities for appropriate actions includes, Commandant DSS, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Imo State Commissioner of Police, NSCDC and Commissioner for Petroleum Imo State respectively but didn’t make any impact as the Thugs have continued to extort their members with ignominy.
Regretting, the Oil Magnet, said that, this able government agencies reached for their urgent interventions none came to the rescue of the handicapped members of the Petroleum Marketers and envisaged gross abandonment by the agencies including the State government.
whereas the public outburst is to create meaningful awareness to stop the inherent dangers associated with the multiple taxations against Petroleum Marketers and it’s adverse effects on the public mostly in this era of economic hardship as the evil has continued to take turns as a good one.
