The former Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Imo State chapter, Chief Barr. Mercellinus Nlemigbo, former Commissioner of the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry,Barr. Kingsley Ononuju among other stakeholders of Mbaitoli LGA of the State have insisted that Mbieri clan otherwise called Mbaitoli East must produce the next Executive Chairman of the Council.
Briefing journalists in Owerri on Tuesday, the stakeholders regretted that those they described as misguided elements who claimed to be stakeholders of Mbaitoli South authored a newspaper publication, deceiving people that the Chairmanship position of Mbaitoli LGA come 21st September,2024 Imo Councils poll has been thrown open for Mbaitoli South, East and North to contest.
They unequivocally condemned the newspaper publication, asking Mbaitoli South and North not to contest for the chairmanship seat as it has been zoned to East so as to balance the political equilibrium of the Local Government Area hence Mbaitoli South and North are already occupying the number two seat of Imo State and the State House of Assembly seat, former seat of the Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli among other current juicy positions in the State.
Barr. Kingsley Ononuju(Ekwedashike) who hails from Mbaitoli North warns that nobody should henceforth attack their APC Apex leader, Chief Nlemigbo of Mbieri extraction as he (Nlemigbo) has no other option than to concur to the decision widely taken by the entire people of Mbaitoli both from South,North and East during a meeting held on 15th July,2024 at the Apex leader’s residence.
Hear him,”the meeting which took place at Chief Nlemigbo’s residence brought together leaders and stakeholders from the twelve Wards of Mbaitoli under All Progressives Congress, APC.
The agenda was clear; to address crucial issues concerning the forthcoming Local Governments Election in Imo State, aiming to promote equity, justice and fairness in line with the present 3R Government in Imo State led by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma and constitution of our great party”.
“While the intention was a noble one,it however appears to me and other well-meaning sons and daughters of Mbaitoli that certain individuals, likely driven by selfish motives have chosen to misinterpret the noble intentions behind the resolutions reached by these esteemed leaders and stakeholders.
Iy is very unfair to accuse a notable leader,Chief Nlemigbo in whose home the meeting was held, as clannish on the resolution reached by all our leaders and stakeholders, was a clear cut effort towards ensuring peaceful coexistence without any form of marginalization from any political bloc in Mbaitoli.
Deputy Governor of Imo State hails from Mbaitoli South. How they talk about marginalization?
Wouldn’t it be regarded as sheer wickedness if Mbaitoli North or South should rise up to deny their brothers and sisters in Mbaitoli East the position of Chairmanship of the Local Government, despite holding two of the most powerful positions not just in the local government, but in the State as a whole?”.
