The Traditional Rulers, Leaders and stakeholders of Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State under the aegis of Odimma Orsu Initiative has passed a vote confidence in the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for his leadership proactiveness to restored peace in the area as the Chief Security Officer.
Speaking at the Second Stakeholders Security Summit in Owerri Saturday 16 March 2024, The Association Director of Security, Chief Ethelbert Odimegwu (Aku-Enwe-Mbe Na Orsu) said that the people are happy with the way the efforts of the government through the professional disposition of the Security operatives has helped to restored sanity and peace after several years of invasion of the Council and all the Community by hoodlums and killers in the guise of Biafra Agitation as IPOB and ESN with lies of guiding forest against the cattle herders.
Whereas according to him, the topography of Orsu Local Government Area abhors the movement of cattle because it’s hills and valleys and the issue of Biafra Agitation is not done in the local villages it’s a National Assembly issue.
“It is great today we are celebrating the recovery of Orsu from the enemies, killers who invaded and sacked us from our places turned it into their camp since three to four years now under the guises of fighting for freedom. Killing, mieming and reaping our daughters and mothers, destroyed all the government facilities in the Council, looted and burnt several houses.
We have deliberated and we will continue to support the government and the security Operatives to ensure lasting peace in the area now that the hoodlums have been cheesed out of their major Camps by making sure that they will not return back while we will used every available means to ensure that our people returned home peacefully.
While we will collaborate with the government to ensure that there will be incentives and assistance to those who lost their buildings during the attacks and also work with the government to ensure that those our people mostly youths who are hoodwinked to join the group and rehabilitated and granted amnesty by the government”.
Speaking, Media Director Odi Mma Orsu Initiative, Hon. Emeka Ezeh said that the situation was terrible that lead to the coming together of the Leaders and stakeholders of Orsu to form the Pressure group In order to use it as an avenue to support both the State Government and the security Operatives to actualize the peace by chessing out the bad eggs from Orsu Local Government Area.
He pointed out that, Orsu Local Government Area was known for peace before it’s invasions by the allegedly strangers from Ebonyi State and lured some Youths to join them under the Issue of freedom fighting. He pointed out also that the insecurity and insurgency has consumed a lot of people and property worthy billions of Naira.
“This evil people instigated fears and terrors in our land and no one sabotage it because it’s was blown out of proportion and deliberate ” We thank God for the Security operatives that fought gallantly for the restorations of peace and order”, “Our people are law abiding citizens and will remained law abiding citizens and will continued to support the government as we called on the government to come to our Assistance to rebuild and rehabilitate the area”. He said
Earlier in his speech, Chairman Odimma Orsu Initiative who don’t want to mention his name because of security reasons but Simply known as 001, explained that the group was a pressure one meant to pressed down peace and order in Orsu Local Government Area by pushing support with the government, security Operatives to ensure peace returns and to pushed out the hoodlums from the Council.
Expressing happiness and confidence vote for the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, 001 said that the Stakeholders Security Summit was meant to discuss further on how best to retain peace by ensuring that the hoodlums do not return back to the area with the collaboration with the security Operatives. According to him the Community in the Council will be ready to form Vigilantees and Forest Guides to make sure that the bushes and villages are occupied by the owners not strangers.
We also Commends the security Operatives, the JTF, Police, DSS, Civil Guide and many others for their security gallantry and efforts to handle the situation as professionals and dislodging the hoodlums.
He thank all the Leaders and stakeholders including Traditional Rulers for attending the meeting which he said that has refocused on the need to bring back Orsu Local Government Area of a collective dream.
