The Member Representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Engr Innocent Ikpamezie, has reiterated the need for Synergy between the Traditional Rulers and President Generals in the various communities in his constituents for peace and sustainable development.
Engr Ikpamezie made the Clarion calls during his interactions with Traditional Rulers and Town Union President Generals on his oversight function and sensitization exercise to solidifying a collaboration efforts between the Traditional Rulers and President Generals of the various Autonomous Communities in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State aimed at moving the Council forward.
He cancelled and condemned the issue of President Generals often in a logger -heads with the Traditional Rulers. Pointed out that, both are well recognized by government as the necessary channels for community government administrations, custodian of culture and traditions, maintenance of peace and security.
“Above all, the two positions are constitutionally defined with it’s peculiar responsibility’s to move the community forward”.
“Whereas, in a case of any frictions in existence, it’s common sense and natural applied Alternative Peaceful Resolution Mechanism for the benefit of the community”. Ikpamezie.
On the increases of insecurity and other social vices predominantly amongst the youths in various communities, Engr. Ikpamezie requested for urgent intervention by the stakeholders in the various Local Government Area and Autonomous Community level to check as the perpetrators of heinous crimes are also a member from the community.
He urged the Traditional Rulers and President Generals in Mbaitoli to go home, sit down together and fashioned out ways of helping the Security Agents and the State Government to bring lasting peace and security’s .
Meanwhile, Hon. Engr Innocent Ikpamezie, used the meetings with the Traditional Rulers and President Generals to invite and introduced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) representative in the State, Ambassador, Mrs. Ngozi Anita Ofoegbu, to address his people on the benefits of Sustainable Development Goals project to their community, as an action plan to end poverty and inequality as well as the need for environmental protection and general public institutional change and development aimed at getting the grassroots.
In her words, “we are on a sensitization tours of all the communities in Mbaitoli local government, to educate the people on the need to take advantage to have some of the SDGs projects sited in their.communities, by ensuring you filling applications, complete and return the Needs Assessment Forms in your possession. To enable us commence work and achieve success through your collaboration and support”. “However, we are soliciting to the President Generals as a matter of obligations to filled in and complete the Community Benefits Scheme Forms with impacts from their Traditional Rulers”. Mrs Ofoegbu.
Responding some of the critical Stakeholders in the meeting in a general assurance resolved to set up a committee to look into all the issues of great important raised by their Son, Hon. Engr Ikpamezie, and come up with a resolutions, for peace and development of Mbaitoli local government area.
