Agwa Clan Decries Decades of Political Negligence, Marginalization in Imo State, Demands Inclusion in 2027

The Niger Delta Progressive Youth Movement (NDPYM), through its Coordinator, Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis (OluImo), has raised concerns over what it described as the prolonged political marginalization of the Agwa Clan in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.

Addressing a press conference, the group noted that despite Agwa Clan’s significant contributions to the state’s economy, particularly in oil, gas, and agriculture production.

it has remained largely excluded from key political positions and decision-making processes within the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency, Orlu Senatorial Zone and Imo State in general.

The group described the situation as unjust and contrary to the principles of equity and inclusive governance.

Among its demands, NDPYM called for official recognition of the alleged imbalance and urged political stakeholders to use the 2027 general elections as an opportunity to correct what it termed a longstanding injustice. It specifically appealed to political parties to zone elective positions within the constituency to candidates from Agwa Clan.

The group also called on the Imo State Government, led by Governor Hope Uzodimma, to take deliberate steps to address the imbalance and promote fairness across all regions of the state.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful and democratic engagement, the group stressed that Agwa Clan remains united in its pursuit of equitable political representation, warning that continued exclusion is no longer acceptable.

It urged the media and relevant stakeholders to support its call for justice, unity, and balanced development in Imo State as Agwa people contribute immensely but have nothing to show for it.
