Jubilation in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri as CSP Obikezie Loveday Receives ‘Ikeoha I’ Chieftaincy Title

There was jubilation in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, as the traditional ruler, Eze Aloysius Igwe, conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Ikeoha I” on a senior police officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Obikezie Loveday.
The colourful ceremony, held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the royal palace of Eze Igwe, was marked by pomp, pageantry and deep cultural significance, celebrating royalty, service, commitment to public safety and outstanding professional excellence.
CSP Obikezie was honoured in recognition of his exceptional service delivery, unwavering dedication to peace and security, and remarkable contributions to the restoration of law and order in Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri Autonomous Community and its environs.
The event was also historic as it coincided with the coronation of Eze Aloysius Igwe as Ezeoma II and Chinemeze I of the community. The occasion attracted dignitaries from within and outside the country, underscoring the importance of the monarch’s ascension and the high esteem in which CSP Obikezie is held.
Community members and guests erupted in joy as CSP Obikezie was found worthy of the revered title. Many described the honour as well deserved, noting that he had served humanity and the community his maternal home with uncommon dedication, humility and selflessness.
While performing the conferment, Eze Igwe described CSP Obikezie as a worthy son of the soil whose professional conduct has brought pride to the community and the wider society. According to the monarch, the chieftaincy title was earned through the officer’s good works, discipline and exemplary service.
Eze Igwe offered royal blessings and prayers for CSP Obikezie, urging him to remain steadfast and to continue his commitment to humanity and community development.
The ceremony also featured the conferment of chieftaincy titles on other recipients and was enlivened by rich cultural displays, traditional dances, music and chants that reflected the people’s overwhelming approval of the honour bestowed on CSP Obikezie.
Responding, CSP Obikezie congratulated Eze Igwe on his ascension to the throne and expressed profound gratitude to the monarch and the people of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri for finding him worthy of such a prestigious title.
He pledged to redouble his efforts toward sustaining peace and security in the community and beyond, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against crime.
The newly installed Ikeoha I of Alaoma Owerre-Ebeiri, who is the Commander, CP’s Surveillance Unit, Imo State Police Command, Owerri, attributed his professional successes to the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP. Aboki Danjuma. He also called for continued public support and cooperation with the police.
CSP Obikezie was accompanied to the ceremony by his wife, Mrs. Nkechi Jennifer Obikezie, who was also honoured with the title “Lolo Omasiridiya,” alongside family members, friends, colleagues, community leaders and well-wishers.
Investigations revealed that CSP Obikezie is widely admired for his reverence for God, teamwork, humility, approachability, dedication to duty, investigative competence, combat readiness and professionalism. He has attended several professional courses and is regarded by colleagues as a bridge-builder who consistently upholds the highest standards of policing in line with established rules of engagement.
