ORJI POLICE DIVISION BUSTS CULT GANG IN OKWU URATTA, ARRESTS SUSPECTS, RECOVERS LOCALLY MADE FIREARMS
— CP Aboki Danjuma Orders Sustained Crackdown, Assures Imolites of Safety

In a continued effort to curb cult-related violence and other criminal activities, the Orji Division of the Imo State Police Command carried out a successful operation on Monday, 1st September 2025, leading to the arrest of an alleged cultists and the recovery of locally made firearms and live ammunition.
In a Press release from the Imo State police Command Public Relations Officer DSP Henry Okoye stated that, acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Orji Division led a surveillance team to Okwu Uratta, where a 26-year-old suspects, Anunobi Chukwuemeka, from Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, was apprehended.
The suspect was found in possessions of a locally fabricated revolver pistol, a locally made Beretta pistol, and three live rounds of ammunition.
According to DSP Henry Okoye, said that, during a preliminary interrogations, Chukwuemeka confessed to being a member of the Neo Black Movement (NBM), also known as Black Axe, a proscribed cult group.
He is currently assisting police investigations, while efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the group, especially those involved in the illicit fabrication and Distributions of firearms.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reiterated the Command’s efforts and commitment to eradicating crime across Imo State.
He commended the Orji Division for the successful operation and reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
The CP further, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to continue providing the police with timely and credible information, while warning all cultists and criminal elements to desist from their illegal activities or face the full force of the law.
