..Holds Stakeholders Meetings.

The Imo State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers held its monthly general meeting on Wednesday, 28th May 2025 @ the BASHLYKS event centre Owerri in commendations to the State Chairman Ikenga Jeff Eze who’s one hundred days in office has been eventful and visionary to the admiration of the members.

While expressing his optimism in working inline with the government of Senator Hope Uzodimma and promised to toll in the Government visionary leadership.

In a significant announcement, The Indefatigable State Chairman Hon Comr Amb Ikenga Jeff Eze presented a confirmation letter from the Hon Commissioner for Transport dated 5th May 2025, officially affirming his appointment as the substantive State Chairman of the union.

The news was met with great applause and excitement from members present.

Hon Comr Amb Ikenga Jeff Eze informed members about a formal letter submitted to the State Governor through the commissioner for lands, requesting a land allocation for union use.

He expressed optimism that the Governor would approve the request in due time.

Emphasizing the importance of discipline, The Amiable State Chairman urged members to uphold the core values of the union, stating that discipline must remain the watchword at all level of the NURTW operations.

As part of efforts to foster unity and camaraderie among members, a five man committee was constituted to over see the fourth coming seven – a side football competition and Snr Comrade Izuchukwu Okebaram was named Chairman of the Tournament.

Addressing internal conflicts, The State Chairman advised members to refrain from character assassination and divisive actions, emphasizing that leadership is a rotating responsibility and should be respected as such.

The meeting also witnessed the formal introduction of the newest branch, Cluster market motor park.

The Chairman of the new branch was warming welcomed into the union’s fold.

Highlighting his 100 days in office which concide with the meeting date, Hon Comr Amb Ikenga Jeff Eze outlined some of his major achievements so far.

These includes a successful State wide sensitization tour, a seminar on drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking , the inauguration of the committee on Intelligence and Complaints and the creation of a digital data base of the union members and activities.

Ofia Afuru Agu concluded the meeting by once again stressing that discipline remains the foundation for the continued progress and unity of the union.
