HON JAMES ESILE’S IMO STATE FILM VILLAGE Bill IN UMUCHEKE-OKWE, ONUIMO LGA

The Imo State House Of Assembly, had on Tuesday, 25th January, 2025, taken the first reading of a bill for a law to establish Imo State film village in Umucheke-Okwe, Onuimo LGA of Imo State.
The bill which was chiefly sponsored by the honourable member representing Onuimo State Constituency at the Imo State House Of Assembly, Hon Chief Uba James Esile, has successfully scaled second reading on 26th of March, 2025. When passed into law, Imo state shall have a film village established in Umucheke- Okwe, Onuimo LGA. This will add in no small measure, a great boost to the tourism potentials of not just the host community and LGA, but the entire state. And aslo serve as a creative incubator for emerging talents in the entertainment sector of Imo state and beyond.
Explaining the bill during the presentation, Hon Chief Esile, who is also the chairman of the house committee on Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, stated that, the Imo State film village when established shall serve as “reposition for film production and utilization in Imo State, thereby generating jobs and creative talents”. According to him, it will also provide and promote sound basic film training, as a foundation for the development of talents in Imo State, taking into account indigenous cultures. Being an establishment that will offer trainings and professional programs leading to award of diplomas, and certificates with emphasis on entertainment sector.
Indeed, Hon Chief Uba James Esile who has remained unique and outstanding in his great strides as a lawmaker for the people of Onuimo at the Imo State House Of Assembly, has struck yet another gold with the above bill. This goes a long way to underscore his level of agility, admirable mental fecundity, proactivity and ability to think out of the box and towards the directions that can only proffer economic growth, development, wellbeing and healthy advancements of his people.
There had been out poor of encomiums and commendations by people of Onuimo, Okigwe zone and Imo state in general, for Hon Esile, for such a thoughtful idea, which shall open up the frontiers of development and monumental economic growth in the host LGA of Onuimo and beyond.
Film village has also been analyzed to be an establishment which Imo state critically needs at the moment, to catalyze training, research and innovation for the effective and economic utilization, exploitation and conservation of the state’s resources.Therefore, the Imo State House Of Assembly in the interest of the state, owes ndi Imo the duty to give this thoughtful bill a quickened seal of approval. And the executive governor, His Excellency distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who is ready to welcome ideas that will catalyze development of the state shall not disappoint in doing justice to it. This is for a rapid economic, tourist and talent growth in Imo state.
