The Imo State NUJ land grabbing case has finally come to an end, with the Owerri High Court setting aside the earlier judgement against the Integrity Journalists group, returns Imo NUJ Press Center Port Harcourt Road back
In a three-hour ruling,on Thursday 5 December 2024, Hon. Justice Ann Ononeze Madu stated that she was deceived into entering the earlier judgement against the real and authentic journalists.
The court declared that Christopher Akaraonye, Chris Isiguzo and cohorts had no right to sell the landed property belonging to the entire journalists as a purported chairman or in proxy especially since they are facing a National Industrial Court of Nigeria over leadership emergence as Imo State NUJ Chairman in 2019 till date.
The court also condemned the actions of Chris Isiguzo, Chris Akaraonye, and cohorts for parading themselves as leaders of the union when their leadership is being challenged. The judgement has been hailed by Imo journalists, who see it as an end to an illegal attempt to steal their property.
Representative of the counsel, Prof. Francis Dike, SAN, to Imo State Nigeria Union of Journalists Integrity Group, Barr Vitalis Nwaonu Esq, said that, the Hon. Justice Ann Ononeze Madu has shown her capacity as a legal icon who believes in the rules of the law. Her pronouncement is ept and direct to stand on the part of truth irrespective of earlier fraudulent judgement obtained through the back door.
“We are happy with the Judgement for setting aside the judgement fraudulent obtained by the rogues and we are ready to follow the matter the NUJ Imo State Leadership at the Industrial Court to it’s logical conclusion”.
