Dr. Ugochukwu Williams, a young entrepreneur and founder of Imo Development Champions (IDC), has launched a community development initiative to empower youths in Imo State under his pet project” we are championing and challenging young people in Imo State to drive development in their immediate communities”.
In the event Wednesday 12 June 2024 culminated with the Nigeria Democracy Day celebration at Rock View Hotel tagged unveiling of Development Champions IDC Competition for the nex generation of Nigeria .
The IDC competition aims to encourage young people to drive development in their communities, acquire new skills, and volunteer. The best performers will receive financial empowerment and rewards.
The program has garnered support from various individuals and organizations, including religious leaders, entrepreneurs, and presidents of youth organizations.
Dr. Williams emphasized the importance of food security, employment, and skill-based agro-businesses, and expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm shown by the youth.
The IDC competition will select two individuals from each of the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State, providing them with ₦500,000 financial awards. The training program will span 31 days, culminating in awards presented in November/December 2024.
Partners have expressed confidence in the initiative, praising the IDC’s approach to community development.
In a separate media chats, Dr Ugochukwu Williams and Mr. Ndubuisi Ikeagwuonu expressed confidence in the Programme as the people of Imo State will benefit much from the rich project aimed at dissuading and decentralized youth from indulging in government biased empowerment schemes to face the reality of life and the need to be focused and achieve success.
